Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I'm questioning if TDU is really a possibility next year. If so, this route is tailormade for him. I'm also very curious to see a prologue on road bikes. https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/tadej-pogacar-already-knows-what-awaits-him-in-australia-tour-down-under-route-is-revealed

And WVA only won because Pogacar slowed down on Kwaremont (he couldn't drop MVP). If MVP wasn't there, Pogacar would drop WVA for sure. MVP had his best season in 2023 and we should not forget WVA was still in his peak. Now MVP is clearly better than WVA. Moving on to not be off topic, Bora will...

Don't forget the last stage of PN where he destroyed Vingegaard and Gaudu. He dominated FW while one year before, he was nowhere to be seen in Huy.

Giro is more and more on Vingegaard's schedule next year. https://www.idlprocycling.com/cycling/vingegaard-and-roglic-keen-to-face-pogacaryet-both-openly-flirt-with-a-different-grand-tour

This inferiority complex (I would like to have another word but I can't find one better) about Pogacar is bliding people to the point they question how better Pogacar is due to equipment. May I remind people, he won the TdF against Visma with zero relevant teammates?

And what made Pogacar's run in PdB incredible was not beating Pantani's record (it wasn't a great record to be honest) but beating Pantani's record by 3 and half minutes. Remco didn't gain a minute on Landa and was closer to the rest than Vingegaard/Pogacar. We can't forget he lost 17 s/km after...

Spot on. Remco can make a significant leap and he still won't be able to rival Vingegaard, let alone Pogacar. His 2024 performance is so overrated, it's like saying Peraud or Pinot would win a TdF one day because they were only 8 minutes behind Nibali. If Vingegaard races the Giro, Remco will...

He was better in classics and his Tour was hampered by a crash IMO. But if I had to vote, Pogacar was better in classics and worse in GTs.

Almeida is improving so I don't think Remco can just show his 2024 TdF level and he will win a GT against everyone not named Pogacar/Vingegaard. Almeida took a significant leap this year, nothing suggests he will not make the same next year. Lipo and Del Toro will improve too, I'm not sure Remco...

Teams & Riders Best riders never to win a monument

I know but Armstrong is remembered for his level between 1999-2005 and in this period he didn't target monuments. If he did, he probably would have won one. I'm pretty sure Devil put him in his list because he is a 7x TdF winner.

He got a golden opportunity and still didn't make it. Don't forget Cance and Sagan were caught behind in the race.

Teams & Riders Best riders never to win a monument

Vanmarcke didn't have the ability to drop everyone and he wasn't a good sprinter. On the other hand, Hushovd is someone who should have won a monument specially due to his incredible sprint. For example, how didn't he win a MSR?
