Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

They came at the end of the Hinault era, he had won 4 Tours before he faced off against either and was coming back from injury in 84 when Fignon was a freak. Just look at the margins of Hinaults victories, twice over 10 minutes. He dominated every bit as much as Pogacar. Roglic is a clone of...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Hinault won his first Tour in 78 and didn't face Fignon/LeMond at the Tour until 84 when he was 29! How is Zoetemelk better than Vingegaard, please explain that one? He couldn't win even when Merckx wasn't there, Ocana, Thevenet, Van Impe all won Tours in the same era. Likewise, Zulle...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

How was it more competitive in the eras of Hinault or Indurain? neither of those guys even had a Vingegaard type rival, who managed to beat them a few times. They won their Tours just as easily as Pogacar.

    My top ten, on talent

So why bother putting a list then if you don't want discussion. If you compare Pogacar to those other riders at the same age, he should be in the Top 3, that is if it is based on talent like you say.

Yeah, but Pog should be well ahead of him, ahead of Hinault if we look at their careers at the same age.

Where are you from? Ireland Who's your favourite cyclist? The Irish guys and attacking cyclists Your favourite moment in cycling history? LeMond winning in 89 was what got me hooked in cycling, though I do remember Roche winning in 87, but didn't get into it then. What's wrong with cycling...

Before LeMond got shot, he had won 1 Tour, Worlds and a Dauphine at age 25. I like LeMond, but Pogacar was well ahead at the same age in terms of palmares. LeMond was competitive in one day races, but rarely won. Pogacar had 5 monuments by age 25.

Tour de France Femmes 2025 (July 26th- August 3rd)

But what happened in the Tour le Femme, that is anyway comparable to that incident? or even comparable to the Moser/Fignon incident at the 84 Giro or the Delgado 'bribe' in the 89 Vuelta. There is nothing that happened that you can point at and say that looked a bit iffy, maybe at a stretch...

Tour de France Femmes 2025 (July 26th- August 3rd)

Is that related to her injury from Worlds a few years back? Can still see the scar clearly. If it is, I would tend to agree. She did a real turn on the front earlier in the stage after many had already been dropped so I was surprised to see she barely made the time-cut. Must be real bad.

Tour de France Femmes 2025 (July 26th- August 3rd)

Said at the start of the Tour that PFP was an unknown quantity, but could win it and boy did she crush it today. Didn't expect her to be so dominant though, Gigante went as about expected, but the downhills tomorrow will be the real worry for her. Vollering, Niewiadoma, Rooijakers about same...

Tour de France Femmes 2025 (July 26th- August 3rd)

Puck doesn't look to have the form to do much unfortunately, i think she was going better last year. Disappointing to see Gigante and Rooijakers lose time today, but not exactly shocking considering their descending abilities. I think both will be in the shake-up tomorrow, but whether they can...

Tour de France Femmes 2025 (July 26th- August 3rd)

That was a complete dud of a stage only saved by seeing an attacking rider win, and yes gutted for NFB, but ironically she moved up a spot on GC, but a Top 10 finish looks difficult now, better to go for a stage win. Tactics by FDJ, truly baffling and of course AG made Gigante work, but it was...

Who would win, Cancellara or Cavendish

Trust me, having to follow repeated attacks one-on-one means you are working just as hard' as you also have to do the repeated accelerations and it will eventually come down to the bigger engine.

Who would win, Cancellara or Cavendish

Well, actually it does, because what you think happens on paper and what happens in a race are very different. When you come up against someone with a much larger engine, drafting will only get you so far. For sure, a sprinters speed will match the speed of an attack, but if you have to do that...
