Thomas just accepted the job. I think the jury is out as to whether Froome will regain his prior form. Between the injury and father time, odds are he too will join the domestique ranks or retire (the latter more likely).

I think you're misreading Joseph's post. He says that Bernal is 12s back of the strongest climber (which i think everyone agrees is Pinot), not that Bernal is the strongest climber.

That's been my read on him for awhile now. He never seems willing to go deep for a win or to drop someone. Content to stay with the pack and I guess out last him.

I assume that comment was directed at my comment. I wasn’t being critical of him, but making an observation. His comments after the stage seem to back up that reality (co-leader in name only). If he’s a true co-leader it’s not clear why he’s taking direction from G. The car, sure, but G giving...

He’s still not racing like he’s a co-leader.

Based on today, I think Pinot is in the best position to win.

I loved the racing today, but I imagine Pinot must be mentally destroyed. He was flying high and his bid has been undone on the most unlikely of stages. Ineos is on track for a 1-2 finish and some very defensive riding through the next weekend and the following week. Yay us :(
