Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Pogi should do some Classics (Strade, MSR, RVV, LBL) AND the Giro 2024 and then come into the Tour with an already dominant season under his belt. He can still be good in July off of the Giro, which he can win without being in top form.

Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

I think he'll be okay with the Giro/Tour double if he takes a rest in late summer before sole focus on Worlds. I don't believe he'll finish both GTs.

Surely Ganna should wait for VDP's group now?

They were playing poker trying to save energy at the back during the breakaway battle, and they got burned

Right now the big guns are actually saving more energy than the INEOS team. They've got the gap pegged with domestiques. They can make it back.

Did I just see a Trek rider take a turn in the front group as they chase?

INEOS has committed its whole team to ride, other teams are only sending up a token man or two.

Wonder if INEOS will get cranky with the other teams' work rate and stop pulling

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

What does he need to achieve in order to be considered the GOAT? His achievements can never rival Eddy, but we are in a different, far more competitive era. It is crazy the level he is going to have to maintain, year after year, in order to get his Palmares on a level that is in the discussion...

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

I tend to pinpoint the anaerobic threshold (FTP) at 88-91 percent of max HR, though it varies. I held 93 percent of max HR for 68 minutes once in a half marathon. Aerobic threshold, which is more like "tempo" or "sweet spot" in cycling, is closer to 80-85 percent max HR. That's like "marathon...

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

I think he needs to go for broke on one of these stages and attack early. INEOS might cooperate with him. Jumbo hasn't brought their full TDF squad to control breaks. If Remco can gain a minute or two it could be a big enough cushion for the final stage. No sense riding for a top ten here. He's...

The best one week stage racers of the 21st century

This is a great topic. I agree with the above posters that currently the debate is between Roglic and Porte. But I have a feeling that before too many years have gone by, there will be two Slovenians vastly outranking any other cyclist, with the younger of the two taking a narrow lead.
