We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
With Froome at the Tour I think Sky will go with Froome for the GC. He is younger, obviously more adept than Wiggins in the mountains (2012 Tour showed this best) and not a bad TT rider whereas I think Wiggins struggles when put in a domestique role.
I would love to be wrong though, love...
I'm not sure, considering Wiggins history when answering questions (example: the "****ing ****ers" press conference) I don't think an interview would help much, especially an interview that is going to be about doping with someone he obviously dislikes.
Why would anyone put themselves in a position of being interviewed by someone who is pretty sure they dope and is unlikely to change their mind.
Also, Wiggins does not interview well, even comments that on paper would look fine seem to come off as either being sarcastic or being a ****er when...
Another reason why he probably doesn't want to go to any more Gts. SKY have Froome now who is a lot stronger than Wiggins was even in his winning tour and who will be Sky's golden goose for years to come... unless he gets caught doping.
I think a doping scandal would hurt Garmin more than other teams, if you stand on a pedestal of No Doping then the fall when you get caught doping is going to be so much further.
