Champions. Not the most interesting game though--Darnold made no big mistakes but easily could have had two picks and he missed throws on wide open touchdowns.

Good point. For me Olympics viewing superseded watching cross races ;)

Really impressed with Pats defense thus far, although Darnold has missed two throws that would have been touchdowns, and another time he didn't see Shehee wide open down the R sideline on a scramble (though he was under pressure and completed the pass to Walker). Pats are bound to get things...

His leg turnover on that final climb was quite something to see!

Yup; and some naïve sports commentators in the U.S. will suggest Johnson's win has an asterisk because of Vonn's crashing out.

I loved in one of the previous races the duck was floating in the pond they were racing around. I'm sure the duck liked that.

Completely agree. I tend to think she really was hurt and was silly or stubborn. I don't want to be conspiratorial, but I wonder if there were cash bonuses just for competing (like in Diamond League Athletics meets) regardless of winning?

It was shaping up to be a great 3-way battle for silver and bronze, but both the German and Norwegian anchors shot their way out of any chance at silver. Fun race to watch. And loved the big crowd there--that's what seemed missing from both alpine events.

No to the latter, I'm saying it's healthy to have boundaries in which we can be intentional re: what we want to talk about there. But I will stop now and leave the final comment to you.

Fun fact: I was at the 10,000 meter final during the Vancouver Olympics when Kramer won in WR time and then was disqualified for skating in the wrong lane (due to his coach). The skating arena held I think 7,000 people, and the 6,950 who were wearing orange were stunned.

Ever since I set up a VPN I stopped watching the Olympics on NBC. This Olympics I'm watching Swiss, Spanish, and Canadian broadcasts.

As a lifetime cyclist, I want to enjoy discussions about cycling here that don't descend into caustic back-and-forth commentary that sound like arguments on the playground--whether the commentary going into a black hole is about politics or Evenepoel's weight. And as a half-of-a-lifetime social...
