I didn't know him personally but he represented the tiny local club where I live. He was by all accounts a very nice guy. I didn't think he'd be competing again after his heart issues but he worked hard and this year he was back among the best, and now this. Just tragic.

After the race on sunday he said something like "I'm not going to the olympics unless half the deam dies", and "time to get a job". After a 6th place, ahead of every non-Norwegian ... The competition among the Norwegian men is extremely fierce at the moment. I just wonder how much it will hurt...

My memory of Tyldum is that he was a good shot, at times extremely fast compared to most others back then. His skiing was less impressive on an average day. He probably won the overall titles because of consistency.

I don't think I've seen anyone who loved competing more than OEB. If he had been healthy he would have kept going some more years.

I'm standing near one of the downhills in the course and there are extreme ski differences today. Ridiculously so, I don't understand how it's possible on a day like today.

Graabak was disqualified for using a binding that was asymmetrical. The norwegian team put in a protest (I'm not sure just exactly what they protested against, possibly procedures or some other nonsense). The jury asks to see the ski. In the meantime somebody in the Norwegian team has replaced...

There is 0% chance this happened once. That would be like immaculate conception. Someone filmed this, and according to the journalist who published the video they told him they would have something for him before they filmed it... So how did that happen if this was something they suddenly...

Not just downhill either, Karlsson managed to look elegant even in the worst climbs where you had 30 cm of snow/slush. Johaug looked very awkward in the same uphills, and on the flats and over the crests she is definitely affected by not having the same core strength as before her break as...

I am inclined to believe that this is what he has been told by the coach and staff. I am not inclined to believe that this is the truth.

On the first lap I thought Sundling was going to retire from the race, she looked completely uncomfortable with the conditions. Then she changed skis and immediately started skiing faster than everybody for a while, and at the end finished in 5th position.

Karlsson was the only one who really managed to ski well under these conditions.

The Swedes are better both in terms of ski technique and preparation. Johaug and Weng need a ski change and hope for better skis, but Johaug really hasn't coped well with the conditions. The ski change did not seem to help the Norwegians.

I hope the Norwegian team gets banned from all competitions for 4 years. Based on their statements there is something completely rotten in the staff there.
