Not sure what you expected. He was among the last 15-20 guys in the group. And at some point he couldn't follow the pace of Bora/Visma. Not like he dropped before the climb even started.
Vine has done more for Almeida than Soler and Ayuso combined. A little bit weird to bash him because he went for it in a 13 minute TT effort. Not to even mention that he hasn't taken any off days on non breakaway stages. Only Großschartner has been better.
Legacy wise him being the first rider to ever podium all monuments in the same season (plus potenially worlds) is a bigger achievement than Tour+Vuelta. Smart decision to skip the Vuelta this year.
Main problem with Soler and Politt is that they cannot descend to save their life and that forced UAE to wait for Sivakov. As far as breakaway formation and climbing goes both delivered.
Obviously shouldn't retire but I doubt that he will stay with RBH. Transfer is in the best interests of both parties. Roglic can get all the freedom he wants on a different team. RBH could use some money if Evenepoel is incoming.
All around tactical masterclass. Bora potentially throwing away the podium because they refused to pull in the valley. Visma unable to get a single satellit rider over the Madeleine. UAE doing a zone two ride to gift O'Connor the stage.
I think UAE can be happy with the situation. Roglic and Gall aren't Pogacar's problem. Only Jorgensson as a potential satellite rider for Visma. And as high as the pace is he would be caught before the top of Madeleine if Visma and VIngegaard go for it.
Visma having numbers in the peleton isn't...
