Remco is what he is

an elite TT rider who can climb very well, but he is not the best climber.

Unfortunately, Prudhomme has Gouvenou and Guillen (tweedle dee and tweedle dumb) as his race directors. Both of whom have a life threatening allergy to the time trial

6. Evenepoel Remco +1:38
37. Munton Byron +5:26

There's definitely progress!

All jokes aside, this was about what I expected/hoped for after the crash. But it's unclear whether this is his actual level or whether he was hampered by the crash.

I would hope that without the crash he could at least match the Gall/Lipowitz group.

Decent ride with the cards he was dealt. Can't complain about finishing 6th
The Sporza guys said he had certainly lost 20% of his level from that crash. So without the crash he would have finished 10 minutes ahead of everyone.

All kidding aside, personally I don't think the crash bothered him that much, as he also indicated himself. He actually did well, already quite a bit better than in UAE. You can't expect him to be able to follow Vingegaard. I know he himself expects that, but come on.

Remco finish line questions:
Did you guys think of that plan on your own or does someone from the team car need to be fired?
When you were pulling as if to save your life did you see Vingegaard sitting on your wheel?
Didn't you know Rubio was @10 minutes down?
Did the car relay that Ciccone was minutes back ,not seconds back on GC?
Why were you chasing like it was Pogacar up the road, instead of mortal Soler?
Did you see Soler's dad in the paddock and figure it was game on?
Have you done zero training, learned nothing that every time you get pulsed uphill you can't respond to tempo change and get dropped?
Are you more ashamed or embarrassed? Or equal parts?
Are any of us supposed to take you seriously as team fortified around you for GT GC attempt? You are rapidly becoming the Evil Kneivel of bike racing.. More people tune in to watch you crash and burn than win..
*** please include anything I missed***
Maybe Boro can do a win: salary ratio breakdown ..

He lost 1:38 on Vingegaard, and gave back more than @30+ seconds to Lipowitz..the Bora chain of command is mushroom shaped, no clear leader because nobody races like one.
Another opinion about Remco racing in events he is not good at and favoring some imaginary life as an elite climber.

Remco didn't get shelled because he crashed or is not a good climber, he got his nose rubbed in it because he is not a mountain elite.
Guy racing on another channel, stays in his lane, picks his battles and does go looking to get destroyed in some alpine setting. Viva MvdP

Yeah I remember him being dropped by Gall, Martinez or VPP when he was in shape without the influence of a crash

The problem with everything is the guy is 26, he is a great bike racer, his record shows it..He has already done more than most ever will, worn the rainbow in multiple disciplines.. Double Olympic champion.. He might get less attention, not as glamorous to not have everyone focus on GT GC leadership but he can win races. In my opinion, his biggest liability is his ego. I would send him to all grand tours every year, and have him by design not intending to finish, instead hunt stages for first 7-10 days and drop out as part of the plan..
Can you imagine the psychological advantage he would have, so many reluctant to chase or challenge him.. Competition saying he is racing 1000% saving nothing because he is only racing 7 days not 3 weeks and no mountains.. He would be the only person who knows what 100% of his race looks like.. He could be the ultimate spoiler..

I don't see any reason for it at the moment. He crashed, hard. Everyone knows the 48h after it are worst. He lost at least 10% of his capabilities. I see no reason to make conclusions out of this.

10% is a lot. 20% as the Sporza guys said was absurd, but with 10% loss of capabilities he wouldn't finish anywhere close to where he was today either.

The number doesn't really matter anyway, he probably wasn't at full fitness, but as always, everything has to be absolutely, perfectly right for him to compete in a mountaintop finish. And things rarely perfectly go your way in a stage race. Imagine Pogi crashing like this, he would have won today regardless.

I am not saying I am right, not saying you are wrong. Just I am siding with cycling insiders, people who have been around the sport for decades, and people who held his contract, he is not an elite climber in our shared opinion.
His form is so good, his speed is second to none, maybe you are right keep trying to race against Pogacar, Vingegaard and half dozen emerging talents and hope everything changes and he is able to climb with the best. You are right it could happen.
