Or not crashNot to worry for July, he just needs to lose another 4 kg. All will be well
The Sporza guys said he had certainly lost 20% of his level from that crash. So without the crash he would have finished 10 minutes ahead of everyone.Decent ride with the cards he was dealt. Can't complain about finishing 6th
Lipo's excuse is that he was sick during the altitude camp.Bring the excuses, the popcorn is ready.
Lipo doesn't need an excuse, he performed at roughly the expected level, or the level reflected by the hype (he probably outperformed that honestly) and betting odds.Lipo's excuse is that he was sick during the altitude camp.
He lost 1:38 on Vingegaard, and gave back more than @30+ seconds to Lipowitz..the Bora chain of command is mushroom shaped, no clear leader because nobody races like one.The Sporza guys said he had certainly lost 20% of his level from that crash. So without the crash he would have finished 10 minutes ahead of everyone.
All kidding aside, personally I don't think the crash bothered him that much, as he also indicated himself. He actually did well, already quite a bit better than in UAE. You can't expect him to be able to follow Vingegaard. I know he himself expects that, but come on.
He can make the podium again, but his margin and window for beating the best of the rest are thin as hell. With the younger riders coming through it's hard to see him on the podium at the Tour again
Yeah I remember him being dropped by Gall, Martinez or VPP when he was in shape without the influence of a crashRemco didn't get shelled because he crashed or is not a good climber, he got his nose rubbed in it because he is not a mountain elite.
Guy racing on another channel, stays in his lane, picks his battles and does go looking to get destroyed in some alpine setting. Viva MvdP
Getting dropped and no excuses? Must be a first time.Yeah I remember him being dropped by Gall, Martinez or VPP when he was in shape without the influence of a crash
The problem with everything is the guy is 26, he is a great bike racer, his record shows it..He has already done more than most ever will, worn the rainbow in multiple disciplines.. Double Olympic champion.. He might get less attention, not as glamorous to not have everyone focus on GT GC leadership but he can win races. In my opinion, his biggest liability is his ego. I would send him to all grand tours every year, and have him by design not intending to finish, instead hunt stages for first 7-10 days and drop out as part of the plan..Yeah I remember him being dropped by Gall, Martinez or VPP when he was in shape without the influence of a crash
I don't see any reason for it at the moment. He crashed, hard. Everyone knows the 48h after it are worst. He lost at least 10% of his capabilities. I see no reason to make conclusions out of this. The problem with everything is the guy is 26, he is a great bike racer, his record shows it..He has already done more than most ever will, worn the rainbow in multiple disciplines.. Can you imagine the psychological advantage he would have, so many reluctant to chase or challenge him.. Competition saying he is racing 1000% saving nothing because he is only racing 7 days not 3 weeks and no mountains.. He would be the only person who knows what 100% of his race looks like.. He could be the ultimate spoiler..
10% is a lot. 20% as the Sporza guys said was absurd, but with 10% loss of capabilities he wouldn't finish anywhere close to where he was today either.I don't see any reason for it at the moment. I am not saying I am right, not saying you are wrong. Just I am siding with cycling insiders, people who have been around the sport for decades, and people who held his contract, he is not an elite climber in our shared opinion.I don't see any reason for it at the moment. He crashed, hard. Everyone knows the 48h after it are worst. He lost at least 10% of his capabilities. I see no reason to make conclusions out of this.
