    Sram xx1

Yeah, I'm sure King is on it, but still would rather not have to make that switch. I could care less about having a 10 tooth cog vs an 11. I'm also concerned about the cost and potentially quick wear of those large cogs. But definitely agreed on the benefit of the clutched RD. I haven't...

Well, if they had a version that didn't require me replacing my really expensive CK rear hub, I might consider it.

WADA reaction: Fahey implies Phat should step down

The IOC and FIFA are just as corrupt as the UCI. These international organizing bodies are little more than excuses for old rich guys to get gifts and go on vacation. As long as money is coming in from sponsors and advertisers, they won't change a thing and will continue to look the other way...

    Syringe Guy-Tour of California

Yeah, LA = doper or not, that is a funny photo sequence.

    Levi Leipheimer

Yeah, none of these guys can wrap themselves in any glory with these "confessions". From Millar through the ones today, they are basically only coming out because they have been busted.

Official lance armstrong thread, part 2 (from september 2012)

Thanks KayLow for some rational comments in a forum too often filled with irrationality. The title of this thread is pretty bad. Though there are certain cancers that are well-linked to external factors(i.e. lung cancer and smoking), testicular cancer is not one of them. Even if there was...

2012 Tour of Utah, Stage 6; Park City to Park City

So I was lucky enough to get a ride in one of the team cars yesterday for Stage 6. We got a couple riders in the break, so spent the next two hours with the break, until the cars got pulled from the gap on the Empire Pass climb. Several comments: 1. I would just soon see radios back in the...

    Bar Ends?

I have the Ergon grips with built-in bar ends. They are short, but useful. I don't touch them in technical terrain, but for long smooth climbs, it's helpful to have the extra hand position. But then I've been mt. biking for a long time, and also ride on the hoods on the road, so maybe it's...

    RVV - new finale

Waah!? No Muur? I watched one year from approximately where the guy in those earlier pictures was. The curve on the Kapelmuur. It was an awesome experience. Got there ~4 hours early. Can't believe they would take that out. It's like MSR without the Cipressa or LBL without La Redoute.

29ers on the podiums more and more?

Colnago? Pfft. While I loved the Masterlight I used to ride on the road, beyond pretty paint jobs, I'm not sure they have much going for them in the MTB world. Certainly I wouldn't trade my Turner Sultan for a Colnago.

Power Data Estimates for the climbing stages

Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison, as they are generally talking about much higher altitudes, but it is pretty well accepted in the high altitude mountaineering world that certain folks do much better at altitudes above 5000m. I'd suspect there are at least a few studies on this to be found...

    USAPCC Stage 3: Vail ITT 16.1km (25/8/2011)

Reason not to try the no-gluten/Inuit/raw walrus diet?

USAPCC Stage 2: Gunnison to Aspen 209.8km (24/8)

Those of you who were complaining about the UT coverage, it wasn't any worse than this, and at least we had real racing. Someone needs to have a discussion with the CO folks about course design.

    Bruyneel Found Levi's Blood Bag

I wouldn't infer any kind of doping by the prologue results. It was short, and mostly downhill. The keys to doing well would be bike handling, power and aerodynamics. That's why you saw guys like Hincapie, Voigt and Forster place high. They're bigger and could spin the bigger gears. Not so much...

USAPCC Prologue: Colorado Springs ITT 8.3km (22/8)

Argh. The Versus coverage sucks. Should watch with the sound off. Even the choppy internet feed for Tour de Utah was less annoying.
