Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

To be fair Pogacar, is 26. He has achieved an awful lot in this time. I think Merckx is still the greatest of all time. We can't blame him that cycling wasn't as worldwide as it is today. He beat what was put in front of him. And dominated. The biggest compliment we can give Pogi is that he is...

He can do it. He will need to target 2 in the same year. Tour-Vuelta. Or perhaps even a Giro-Vuelta. Although I can't envisage a Tour without Pogi there.

If he wants to get 11GTs he'll need to target a couple of Vueltas. Handy enough to pick up a title there. I think he can get 6 Tours.

Merckx has 5 Tours, 5 Giros and 1 Vuelta. Pogacar has 4 Tours, 1 Giro and 0 Vueltas. Still a bit of ground for Pogi to make up. Is there any race that Pogacar is ahead of Merckx on?? Monuments for example..... not the UAE Tour😬

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

A summit finish at the likes of La Mongie or even Ax-3 Domaines would be a nice intro in week one. Enough to establish the GC but not enough to blow gaps wide apart.

Good to see Chris performing respectably today in Poland on a tough stage. Glad to see him not languishing in the gruppetto. Well done Chris.

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

Would it be a good idea to place a couple of dense mountain stages in the first week? I'm talking about a Bonette/Isola or Galibier/Granon stage in week 1? It could sort the GC order early and force the riders to attack on lesser stages in week 2/3?? Or what is the ideal 'pacing' for a Tour?

Will we see a monster Dolomite stage next year? Of all the big Dolomite stages over the years, which one was your favourite?

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Very fair point. Remco is very capable at times. The problem is that we just don't know what Remco is going to turn up!!

Yeah, I'm fairly sure he will. His trajectory is definitely upwards and has time on his side to continue improving.

I'd plead with Remco to assess the Giro and Vuelta routes for 2026 and target the best one for him. Leave the Tour to Lipowitz. His star is rising.

Best design of a grand Tour.

2012 Tour was great. It gave the time trialists a chance, and had a good mix of mountain and mid mountain stages.

Basically, he has no hope so because that was as easy a set of mountains as you could reasonably hope for. Plus, I threw in over 100km of ITT.

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

In an imaginary world, and Gouvenou surprises us all with a Tour route someday that it Pro-Remco, what would it look like? I'm trying to think of a Tour that would be kind to Remco in the mountains and keep Pog's chances of attack to a minimum. ITT 12km Plumelec 1.5km @5% Superbesse 5km...
