Question Who is the third best GT rider?

I like Roglic more than Vingegaard, although don’t dislike the solemn little guy, but if I’m picking, I’m taking 2 Tours and a Vuelta over 4 Vueltas and a Giro.

Teams & Riders The Big 6

Maybe I misunderstood. You said he was "second to Pog and Jonas in GTs," if if you're second to two people, you're actually third, right? I wasn't really trying to get into a nitpicking back and forth, to be honest.

Teams & Riders The Big 6

Almeida has never won a GT. Roglic won the 2024 Vuelta (among others). You cited his performance in the 2025 Tour as the primary reason he doesn’t qualify. My question back is if he hasn’t declined and had that same crash + infection, what would you have expected from him in the Tour that would...

Teams & Riders The Big 6

I hear you; I was hoping for more on that stage. However, he was prepping for a Giro-Tour double so came in undercooked and focused his training on long mountain stages, not punchy ones. Question for you: Given what you know about his Tour prep (crashed out of a hard Giro that had gnarly...

Question Who is the third best GT rider?

Roglic. Won a GT in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 (robbed of a second), and 2024. Nearly beat Remco in 2022 despite crashing out of the Tour with broken vertebrae. He was right there with Remco in 2024 and his form was trending up. Crushed the opposition in 2025 Catalunya. The crash in the 2025 Giro...

Teams & Riders The Big 6

Yes, Pogi is by far the best rider in the world. Remco is second even though he’s not the best GT rider, nor the best classics rider (MVdP is better at his discipline than Remco at his). I strongly disagree with this take. In 2024, he was right there with Remco clear of the rest before crashing...

I wish I had his attitude and emotional stability. Very impressive.

Teams & Riders The Big 6

@Lurkerman I guess if I had to narrow it down based on that criteria, you'd have to go with a Big 3, as much as it pains me to admit it: Pogacar will win any GT and Monument outside of maybe P-R, MSR, and certain Worlds/Oly courses MVdP will, I think, win P-R and be top 2 favorite in MSR and...

    Andorra Cycling Masters 2025

Probably not pre-arranged in the sense that they told Del Toro to drop x minutes or whatever, probably just it was understand by all that there were absolutely no stakes whatsoever. Roglic had some anger to get out.

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

You think he can challenge Pogacar if he rediscovers the level he had when he lost by more than 9 minutes? @Berniece you’re not the only dreamer! I don’t think he should assume he can never beat Pogacar or avoid him forever, but I think getting another GT win would be good for his confidence...

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

    (1) It's pretty clear - he pushes more watts/kg and rides aggressively. (2) I don't think this will work, but I agree he should try it and see. Riding behind him and watching him ride away when he attacks clearly isn't a winning strategy. I don't think anyone had any real suspense throughout...

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Remco should either do the Giro or MSR, RVV, and Ardennes. Winning a 1-week should be a big target. Maybe Paris-Nice. I think he should pick based on route. If the Tour really only has 1 ITT and it’s a MTT in the third week, I honestly think he should pass.

Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Some interesting excerpts: When you look back on the season that just ended, how would you describe it, what was going on with these ups and downs? Basically a kind of classic Roglič season. Let's put it this way. A lot of things happened again this year. A good start with Catalonia, also a...
