Increasingly difficult to push myself cycling to & from work

Have you thought about varying your commuting route? Maybe that will give you more of a goal and challenge? I have been doing the same route out for seven years - and must admit I am never quite sure which route home I will be doing until I set off - it jut makes it more interesting.

Nicole Cooke attacks drug cheats in the womens peloton

A still clearly angry Nicole did a short interview on this radio programme http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01pw3p6 yesterday. She is on at 1.55 into the show, for about five minutes. Nothing terribly different to what she has written in the statement, but you do get the feeling she is itching...

2014 TdF Grand Depart awarded to Yorkshire

Oh really, you do show your lack of knowledge of British history then. Even ignoring the fact that half the British Army is stationed in Catterick (its in North Yorkshire to save you looking) in December 1914 German warships attacked Scarborough killing 19 people, thus becoming the first...

Team Ineos (Formerly the Sky thread)

I have it on good authority that they are both friends of Alf Garnett and 'helped' with West 'am's bid for the stadium too. They were however suspiciously absent when 1 million other people stood out in the rain watching the women's race, maybe because none of them ride for Sky, hmm. You...

    The Marianne Vos/womens cycling thread

Nice interview with Marianne Vos on the BBC site ahead of her racing with Armistead at Manchester over the weekend. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/20551012

    The Real Football Thread

Any Italian calcio fans here? What went on in Rome last night and whats that got to do with football? I am going to stop riding my Bianchi in protest, and I am not even a Spurs fan! And yes I know Bianchi are from Milan, but I prefer Napoli anyway...

Wiggins Sports Scientist work for English Rugby

Anyone who thinks that the England rugby (or cricket) teams use performance enhancing anything has obviously not seen them play in quite a while - or they need to be demanding their money back because it sure aint working.

    Are you afraid?

Bit of a sweeping statement though - are black cars more difficult to see than white ones at night too? If I am popping half a mile down the road to Tesco then I probably wouldn't put ahigh viz on, but on my normal 12 mile commute along a major A road then I definately would, with two lights on...

    UCI World Cup

Yes if you click on the link I have given above it will take you to it. Unless they have blocked acess from abroad that is, they sometimes have to if they dont have the rights. It might be on Sky if so.

    Doping, nationalism, culture

Interesting response, however I would have taken it more seriously if you had mentioned Tony Kaye and the Shef Wednesday betting scandal in futbol, (or even Bruce Grobelaar and the brown envelopes), Harlequins and their 'bloodgate', even WG Grace putting the bails back on and Bodyline. Thats...

    Nicole Cooke consdering retirement.

The saddest thing is that this has hardly been picked up by the national (UK)media at all, well not at all. Bradley Wiggins gets knocked off his bike and there are questions in parliament, Victoria Pendleton goes dancing, Ed Clancy and Jo Rowsell get a radio show but Nicole Cooke, who's she...

Wiggins knocked off bike, broken ribs suspected.

I spoke to some people at the Olympics who knew Wiggo when he was on the youth circuit, they all said he was an arrogant, ignorant sod then. Which is pretty much what you would expect from a kid who grew up on a council estate in Kilburn without a father figure around. Then again he gets...

Wiggins knocked off bike, broken ribs suspected.

The 32-year-old was struck on Crow Orchard Road in Wrightington, Lancashire, as a woman driving a white Vauxhall Astra van pulled out of a BP petrol station. She was heard to say afterwards: “I can’t believe it. Of all the people to hit, bloody Bradley Wiggins.” The rumours that it was...
