For the last week he was riding with water in his knee. I think it started durring stage 14 when UAE switched their tactic mid stage but I only learned about it after the Ventoux stage so I don't really know when it started. When I asked if it's related to the crash I was told it's the other...
I would take Tratnik and Lemmen over van Baarle and Van Hooydonck for the mountains. Jorgenson is on par with Kuss who was getting dropped by Yates last year and the same happend to Matteo on stage 4. Van Aert is not in the best form but is he really that much worse than last year when he was...
One of the UAE mechanics spoke for the Slovenian TV and said that his TT bike is more aero and almost 1,5kg lighter. He said that based on the calculations they did he'd be another 40sec faster than Ganna on that ITT that he won.
Are we really comparing Pogačar to Aru here?
The only time Pogačar and Aru raced together while David de la Cruz was at UAE was at 2020 TDF and Pogačar was no.1 in that race and if I remember correctly he won that race while Aru DNF. They never raced togather since.
Prior to that TDF they only...
Angliru is the perfect climb for these kind of numbers. It is steep, low altitude and is usually paced hard just as it was last year. Short and not very hard stage before Angliru also helped.
With Kuss winning last years Vuelta I don't think we will see the likes of Yates, Almeida, Ayuso, Vlasov, Hindley, Landa, Kuss and Jorgenson in the breakaway unless they are already down on time in GC.
I agree. When I talked to one of the mechanics on the team he even said Pogi was only going at 85% at the Giro and that he wasn't tired at all in the end. He also said I should brace myself for what is coming in the Tour.
I always take these kind of comments with a grain of salt that's why I...
You could be right and yet we are still waiting for someone to win the Giro/Tour double since the 90s. After WW2 when cycling went global we never had to wait for more than 12 years for someone to win the Giro/Tour double.
After Vuelta got moved in 1995 from April/May to August/September the...
Well we had Froom and Dumoulin try in 2018 with no luck.
Here you can see how many days were between the two GTs when the double was successful:
Fausto Coppi 1949 - 18 days
Fausto Coppi 1952 - 17 days
Jacques Anquetil 1964 - 15 days
Eddy Merckx 1970 - 16 days
Eddy Merckx 1972 - 21 days...
Again, I'm not arguing about who had a worse injury. I'm just saying that if he starts he will probably be at his best in the first two weeks and not in the third week like some here had suggested.
