¡Colombian dominance!

How do you see the growing Colombian domination?

¡Colombian dominance!

Some say they do not like team domination but have no problem whatsoever with a dominant rider. Others the opposite. Others both.

What about a dominant nation? Who will be able to stop the coming generations of naturally gifted Colombian climbers?

Personally, I don't see this with good eyes. Following this trend, we will have Colombians trashing other riders on every Grand Tour or stage race with mountains and filling the top 5's. Time trials don't seem to be a problem (to them) either!

How dominant can they become?

Did not put this thread in the PRR section due to the eventual comments regarding doping/clininc in general.

I suppose those riders who are more skilled at cycling's other aspects.

Just a guess, of course.

Yes. I see no dominance of cycling by Columbia growing. Unless you think GT's are all cycling is about and even then the two best GT riders last season are missing from this race.

Are you serious? I specifically mentioned GT's or stage races with mountains. Where did I say they would dominate cycling in a whole? I said growing because it is growing, or do you think it is not? I mean the young Colombian generation.

And what do you mean by this race?

Finally! There are theories about the inevitable upcoming south american mountain eagles' domination for decades (Kenyan runners' style). Did not materialize so far for many reasons, clinical included.

what does domination has to do with the clinic? unless, it is being implied that the current Colombians in the pro-peloton dope. so far there is no proof, sooooo i guess we can just create threads about riders/countries that we dont like....

I think it's fantastic. One thing I always thought McQuaid was right on is the need to make cycling more international (although I didn't agree with his methods).

Now someone get Team Sherpa going. :D

Snipers logic comes into play with your post :D :p dutchies shouldn't be good in the mountain because they have flatlands or stuff long those lines.

I don't relate as well to the Columbian riders because I don't know as much about them, and I don't speak much Spanish. Some exciting riding today, and that's all you can ask for really, so I assume they'll grow on me.

I doubt they're any more or less dirty as a group than the Euros or Anglos.

I don't really see where they're as dominant as the poll questions state, so I gave no answer. My answer is more along the lines of, "I'm a white guy with European heritage so I tend to root for those guys", which is dumb and probably somewhat racist but true. At least until I get to know the Columbian riders better.

You must be new on cycling:rolleyes:
Please go check out the 80's and you'll find Colombian "dominance" in the mountains, on all the main GTs -& that was back then when EPO wasn't used-not until late 80's beginnings of 90's when the Colombian riders literally disappeared:cool:

The big difference from the 80's is that back then They were "pure climbers" with no further development on TT'ing, & other skills, whereas What you're witnessing nowadays is a more complete riders-more professionals, trained & nurtured mostly in European teams.
