Tonight:
Stage 3 (Sep 13): Sanmexia - Luoyang 146km ^

[Chinese time click]
Start Time: 10:00
Estimated Arrival Time: 13:30

The 3rd stage starts off on an incline but with a rise of just 400metres over 24km it shouldn’t be too tough a climb. Then the race heads downhill to the finish, which should mean a fast and furious stage. The sprinters will be sure to be vigilant this day, and any breakaway will have to be very good to stay away. The last kilometre however does rise up but it’s at no more than a metre over the kilometre, so not tough enough to deter even the heaviest sprinter. Well let's see if that is true !

Today's Stage 4 Tuesday, September 14 - : Luoyang to Zhengzhou 171.3km [Chinese time click]
Start Time: 10:00
Estimated Finish Time: 14:15
Almost identical to stage 3, except for a slight decline as opposed to the previous stage’s incline to the finish. Having said that, the climb is longer and with the inclusion of a KOM point after 50km, we could see a select group of powerful all-rounders and climbers get away here. Sill, it’s quite a distance from the finish.

Is finished > Results coming Up soon !

Dene Rogers wins fourth Stage | Muller loses yellow jersey to Tanner.

09/14/2010 - (rsn) - On the fifth day of the Tour of China, Dirk Müller (Sparkasse Nutrixxion) who won the prologue lost his yellow jersey to Australian David Tanner (Fly V Australia).
The fourth Stage over 173.3 km from Luoyang to Zhengzhou, was won by the New Zealander Dene Rogers (Giant Asia Racing) in the mass sprint ahead of the Chinese National Team member Xitao Ji and Tanner for itself, thanks to the time bonus of four seconds, the Nutrixxion captain Muller was kicked from the top of the standings today.

As the best German driver, Tobias Erler (Tabriz Petrochemical) placed fifth today, Mueller had an off day and ranked 27th.

The 37-year-old from Northern Hesse in the overall standings is now four seconds behind Tanner. One second behind Muller followed now by Australian Aaron Kemps another Fly-V guy. Erler is in fourth place 12 seconds behind.

Queen Stage 5 (Sep 16): Mount Tai Stage 109km ^^

[Chinese time click]
Start: 10:00
Finish: 12:20

Profile: http://english.thetourofchina.com/2010/0909/83.html

This stage should decide the tour. The stage isn’t long but the final climb up Mount Tai is 10km long and rises about 400 metres. Not super steep, this could suit again a powerful all-rounder as opposed to a climbing specialist, but the profiles of many of the Asia Tour races are notoriously unreliable - it could be much steeper in reality.

@Ney the Viking today is transportation to a mountain area so no stage today ... thanks for asking on the bottom the to do list for this Tour of China..

Here the Vikings Website once more: http://www.jokerbianchi.no/

Here the Marco Polo race report from yesterday stage,15 September 2010

The fourth stage of the Tour of China over 173 kilometers from Luoyang to Zhengzhou started really exciting for the Marco Polo Cycling Team. After about 20 kilometers a big group of 29 riders seperate from the peloton with all strong teams present. We had Leon and Loh along in this group, working hard to make the difference. The group quickly went about 1:30 minute ahead and because of the hard chase the day before we thought the chances were very good for this group to stay away. After checking all numbers it came out that Leon was virtual 2nd in the same time and one Iranian rider only 4 seconds ahead. So with the bonus seconds in the intermediate sprints or at the finish Leon could become the new leader in the Tour of China!

Unluckily the Nutrixxion team still had power left and also the Australians didn't count on their climbers in this break-away so also chased it down again.

After this hard part suddenly 5 riders got up the road and the race really went slow. This group gained an advantage of 6 minutes! Some teams started a chase a few times, but the gap stayed over 4 minutes all the time. But the front group was not clear about their chances and they started attacking each other with still 20 k to go. And with the fast loosing of time the Nutrixxion team gained new courage and really went for it to catch the break at about 5 k to go. So it came down to another mass sprint. Leon was well positioned but had to pull back to avoid the danger of a crash with several riders taking risks in the last few hundred meters.

Rico Rogers from Giant won the stage and David Tanner from FlyV Australia got 3rd and with these bonus seconds he takes over the yellow leader jersey from Dirk Muller.

Stage 6 (Sep 18): Shijuazhuang Criterium 119.8km
A jagged little course by the looks of it, its doubtful that this course could upset the GC but stranger things have happned. With another relatively flat stage the next day, anyone close to the leader’s jersey might just throw in a n attack or two in the final 10 km or so.

Stage 7 (Sep 19): Tianjin Criterium 85km
Another crit for the criterium lovers! This is a tour of relatively short stages and this is the shortest, should be fast and furious with little change in the GC.

2010 Tour of China - “Vanke” Tianjin Circuit Race 85km

On the day when Aaron Kemps (Fly V Australia) won the seventh and final stage in Tianjin, his points for finishing first was enough to place in the blue points jersey. It was Germany’s Dirk Muller, (Nutrition Sparkasse) who emerged as the hero of the day when he won the overall general classification of the Tour of China 2010. Muller has worn the yellow jersey for seven of the eight day race. Stage winner Aaron Kemps’s average speed was a rapid 48.548km/h (30m/h).

The Tianjin Circuit Race started at eleven o’clock this morning, the weather was sunny and not too hot. The course started on Haihe port and finished adjacent to the main train station, beside the river. There were countless landmarks along the 9 laps flat city circuit including a 100 yrs old steel bridge designed by the same man that designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The riders completed 85km for today’s stage.

The gap between Dirk Muller and David Tanner is 34 seconds; there should be no problem that Muller kept the yellow jersey. Fly V Australia team manager Hank Vogels said “Tanner will fight for yellow jersey until the last second, there is always something unpredictable like crash or puncture, we will never give up”.

The yellow jersey leader Dirk Muller said “Today the course have to pass through the tunnels and bridges which was quite dangerous, the team worked really well and our aim was just to protect the yellow jersey.”

From the first lap there was 4 man breakaway, the time advantages once reached nearly 30 seconds. German Nutrition Sparkasse maintained their control of the peloton and kept a close watch over the nearly challengers-David Tanner. At the 2km mark, the peloton caught the breakaway group which ended with a massive sprint. Aaron Kemps won the stage in a time of 1:45:03. Rico Rogers, (Giant Asia Racing) was 2nd place in a photo finish, the 38 yrs Tour de France veteran Leon Van Bon finishing a 3rd place which is his first time on podium during the Tour of China. The best ranked Asian rider is Hossein Askari, (Tabriz Petrochemical) 5th in GC, Kun Jiang, (China National) retained his Greater China jersey 8th in GC. King Wai Cheung, (Hong Kong) kept the polka-dot jersey.

Stage winner Aaron Kemps said, “It is my 3rd stage win this year, David Tanner’s lead out to 150m in front of finish line, then I launched my sprint rocket; our team is very happy with a stage win.

Hong Kong team leader Kam Po, Wong 11th in GC expressed his opinion about the Tour of China, “This year the course was mainly ridden on flat road and the distance is not long enough which was suited for the big guys from Europe. If possible, there should be more mountain stages and extended distance next year”.

The 37 yrs yellow jersey leader Muller said “I am very lucky during the Tour of China, there was no puncture nor crash happened to me, I have five yellow jerseys from other races, but the yellow from the Tour of China is definitely my favorite. The team worked really well during the Tour especially Sergej Fuchs who has done a brilliant job for me.”

King Wai Cheung 25 yrs, (Hong Kong) said “I am very happy with the King of the Mountain title, it is my dream to take part in the Tour of China but for me to win a jersey is really an exceptional experience”. Interestingly, Cheung is known for his sprinting instead of his climbing; Cheung took gold medal in 40km man points race in Doha Asia Sports Games.

The German Team Nutrition Sparkasse celebrated their performance in the Tour of China 2010 where apart from confirming their win of the yellow jersey through Dirk Muller, they also emerged as the best ranked overall team in the general classification.

Charlie Issendorf, vice president of sales and marketing of Champion System professional bike wear, he said "Champion System runs an international bike wear market, we based in China and made in China", so China is Champion System's foundation". Within these years, Champion System is very eager to sponsor cycling races, "it is the best way to promote brand awareness and publicity, I believe Tour of China could be one of worldwide top five cycling event within 5 years," added Charlie Issendorf.

Tianjin is a metropolis in Northeastern China and one of the five national central cities. It is governed as a direct-controlled municipality, one of four such designations, and is thus under direct administration of the central government, and borders Hebei Province and Beijing Municipality, bounded to the east by the Bohai Gulf portion of the Yellow Sea.

A cycling race is more than just about which rider will emerge at the top of the General Classification and the Tour of China has not hide the fact the importance in finding the balance between sports and tourism as the peloton traverse the more than 2,098km from west to east.

Tonight there were a grand closing ceremony for the first edition Tour of China, we wish the Tour to be an annual cycling festival and improve infrastructure for the Provinces where ever the Tour might visit....
