I really want to see the video of this finish now, I can't remember the last time two Euskatels were on the podium at the end of a flat stage.

But they are a team of climbers.

That was... exactly my point? I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

[edit] This is the only footage I have been able to find so far, and it isn't great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfM3qAFcG7w

You can see two Columbias on the front and the two Euskaltels making their move up the right with 250 metres to go.

I was using a Paul Sherwin cliche when talking about Euskaltel Euskadi.

EBH lost 4+ minutes today, which probably leaves Monfort as the best TTer with a chance of winning. I'd pick him for the overall.

todays stage included a lot of short sharp climbs which probably did for EBH given the lack of racing and training he's done before this race.

Tomorrow's stage looks similar to today.

As for the ITT, it has Monfort's name written all over it. If it was pan flat and 10k shorter then Thomas might have a chance but I'm not sure on that course. Best thing Thomas can aim for is the young riders classification in my opinion. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing how he does peform in a ITT like this as it will give us a good indicaion of his potential in ITT's.

Monfort wins the TT with 12 seconds over Adriano Mallori ('08 U23 TT world champ) in his first notable performance with the pros.

For a moment I thought you were saying it was Monfort's first notable performance. Good to see him finding the right shape again.

Ouch. Racing himself back in to form?
hopefully he was just chilling, cause I can't imagine he's that slow. then again, I'm not really sure what 2 months with no serious training does to your form. Or perhaps his achilles starting hurting again, which would mean there will be no TDF for him.
