Who's your favourite and why?

I think we (Slovaks) can win this one... We might not have a strong defence, but the quality is there and if the goalkeeper Halak gets his form right...
I'm just worried that home soil could be a disadvantage... no one in the last 25 years won championships at home.

The WC is no joke. The best teams may still be in the playoffs but many of the best players are not. Having written that, I don't know the rosters well enough yet to make any prediction.

I used to shrug off the WC until I stood amongst thousands of people in Prague Square watching the Czechs play in the final.

It was an unbelievable atmosphere, unlike anything I've ever experienced in hockey-mad Canada.

I'd much rather watch Canada play in the WC than a second round match-up between, say, Detroit and San Jose.
