I don't know if this has already been said, but apparently Andy Schleck is riding the Dauphine this year. I guess he finally understands that the Dauphine is better plus it has the long tt in it for practice. Also he will get to practice riding without frank schleck... Also, JJ Cobo will start the Dauphine and hopefully start to show some form.

Did Cobo ride already a race this year or did he just wake up from his wintersleep?

Romandie I believe where he was his usual "non-vuelta 2011, non-TDF 2008" self, i.e. nowhere to be seen...

Watch out for him........
Won a stage last year and could have done better if not for Voeckler...
Also is the French TT champ so can TT something his more illustrious team mates cant and this race will be podiumed by Time trialers..

Yeah Europcar will undoubtedly do really well and probably win a stage or two. I wonder if Kern will be competing for the overall win. He can actually tt pretty well and if he is in really great form maybe he can win.

Amazing achievement. That's almost as many points as winner of today's stage of Tour of Eritrea earned there

I also really really like him as a rider and I have big hopes for him come June & July.
Its a shame he only peaks for these 2 months currently as he could do well earlier on in the season as well...

to be honest i don't have much of a opinion on kern, now Rolland, that's a rider i like.

i hated him last year after the alpe stage but the way he rode liege and some other race i can't remember the name. . . . what a legend

I had a flick through the startlist on Steephill, seems not to many favourites are going to switzerland this year.
I'm struggling to see the race being terribly animated, what is it, one up hill finish, one Mountain that matter followed by a decent, and a long TT. I'm tempted to pick Martin, though someone will have to try on joux plane, no?. Wiggins after watching Evans last year, may not be quite so willing to push for the win.
I'd prefer to see no prologue, ITT on stage 2, and put all the pressure on the TT winners team to control the race from guys whose biggest win ever would be this race. Might liven it up a little more.

True.
Unfortunately this may be taken as rider preference for Tour warm up.
In the future we may get both the Dauphine and the ToS including no MTFs, few climbs of note and a stupidly long ITT.
Another move forward into the "brave new world", in which we all are forced become supporters of team management entities,
rather than people who like to watch proper bike racing.
Talking of which, in terms of overall WT team strength, I make the score about 11-7 in favour of the Dauphine.

he was injured early on in the season which caused him to forget Paris Nice, i think he focuses on more than the TDF...

Schleck, Schleck, Cunego, Danielson,

That's 4 of the top 10 last year not to mention radioshack's best hopes who crashed out. Kloden and Leipheimer,

I know the majority always do dauphine, but this year is particularly thin on the ground.

+ Valverde, Velits, Mollema, Horner and Poels

that (including Klöden, F. Schleck, Danielson and Leipheimer) makes it at least 9 possible Tour de France GC contenders going to Switzerland + Kiserlovski/Kessiakoff and some interesting guys coming from the giro. Looks like a good field to me

Kern finished his ITT in the Dauphiné last year when he was in great shape, in between JvdB and Gesink... Maybe he had a flat then?
