The headwind must have been strong. A sitting Kristoff behind Breschel maintained same speed as sprinting Sagan.

Sagan was too early in the wind but Kristoff seemed like he was stronger anyway. Man this guy has improved this year. He has always produced the watts (even at 18 y.o he was doing 1700 watts in the sprint), but this year he has really improved his endurance while his positioning has also improved tremendously.
Kristoff was way back at 600 m as well, when Sagan was sitting in 2nd. He was the strongest today by a mile. He'll be good in the Tour.

Kristoff getting better and better a sprinter, good win for him. Sagan still with a little work to do on his sprint before the Tour. He should be good for the climbing stages in the Tour though. I wonder if he's hoping to pick up most of his points like Hushovd did in the stages with a little more climbing since he knows he probably won't be Cav in a flat land sprint. Maybe go in more breaks and try to win the stages from them.

Wasn't that what he was doing last year? Not that he needed those points, but he was in a breakaway on several mountain stages, including the one where he finished 2nd behind Lulu.

So we know that some physical rules are valid for Sagan as well. You cannot challenge Cav one day and climb with GCs next one.
It is sad :( but I do not mind he lose a bit of his speed, if it is the price for becoming the best classic rider of the era.
I am almost sure the Green Jersey is gone but I am full of hope for WC.

Remember the Olympics last year. He was in the break all day and still managed to sprint for 3d. :)

Yeah, and it will probably be even more his tactic this year. Cav wasn't in the fight for green last year, but with him back in play this year it wouldn't surprise me to see Sagan getting in more breaks than he did last year. Will no doubt make for some good racing.

Boonen in good position. Hope he doesn't screw it up again

How did he finish so far back after being positioned where he was with 1 km to go? Did he get off his bike and walk it in?

I think I spotted him with 700m to go almost standing still  Maybe he was leading out Velits? Or had a mechanical?

nah boonen just gave up when being too far away, that's what he usually does then.
