Lol @ Meta Volante at the top of the biggest climb in the race.

Overall, this is a climber's year. They seem to alternate them - last year's TT was about 30km, which was far too long for the gaps that can be created by the Alto do Malhão. There ought to be bigger gaps created on the Monchique stage, but the 5km gentle descent to the finish ought to keep things tighter than Malhão. Definitely better to have the TT before Malhão as well, as it ought to negate gaps from Monchique and set the race up well. Looks like a pretty good route, though I think the TT could perhaps have an extra 5km.

Malhao goes from 600 to 1200 meters?

Who knew.

or profiles are measured in 0.5 m?

Profiles are wrong. The highest point in the Algarve is 900m.

Flor, though this ones look much better, better use the offical profiles.

Winner will be Kwia, the amount of mountains are not enough to hurt him just a bit. And he'll put some precious seconds on the TT.

Apparently these are the official profiles.

Also, it seems it won't be broadcast live. ES will only be showing the highlights at end of the day.

No news if it will be broadcast by a national sports channel.

Looks like they're not even doing that in The UK:(

Live coverage of Andalusia, and highlights of Oman only as far as I can see for next week

It is not scheduled in ES.pt either but one of the commentators said they were doing it. There's a chance they will be showing it in the UK.

The scale being inconsistent is the problem. 200-600, 600-1200 and 1200-1400 all the same size? Nonsense.

However, if you take that left hand scale and count up each increment as 200m, in line with the bottom part, it becomes pretty accurate - Malhão from 400 to 600 rather than 600 to 1200, and highest point in the race around 800.

And they are crap. But at least there are maps on the official website, so I have mapped the finish of stage 2 myself, which is quite different to the profile (at least the altitude):

If Malhão is 2, that really ought to be a cat.2 not .3 too. Interesting bonus ramp there.
