I'm amazed with Purito's tactics:
1) Katusha doesn't let a break of 20 go away - I assume they wanted the stage considering this wasn't Contador's break.
2) They do all the chasing of the break of the day.
3) Storm the first km's of Aralar.
4) Keep 3 guys behind Izaguirre.
5) Instead of trying and distance Froome with that guys he does nothing.
6) Oh yeah he got that sprint thing almost right. Congrats

(I like Purito and that's why his tactics p*** me off more and more everyday. He won't win any GT like this.)

Agree, Katusha's tactics were even more puzzling than Sky's today, with the numbers they had in the small leading group on the final climb, not getting a stage win nor dropping a suffering Froome, not really sure what they were doing.

Great win for Aru.

Was so looking forward to the possible battles between Contador and Nairo in the last week, hope he has a good recovery.
Damn crashes :(

Not so sure. If he was feeling great, why not blow the race apart like he used to do in the past?

More like he was scared of cracking and played it safe.

Contador in Red is all I know

I don't know but maybe set some pace to gain time on Froome at least

I think Froome played some games. Otherwise you can't finish 5th. I mean, they rode a good tempo all the way up the climb.

But if he's not as good as normally, he will get dropped at some point at this Vuelta. And there are some short explosive climbs still to come.

Absolutely, with the numbers (3) in that small group, they should have set as fast pace as possible once Froome lost contact.

Normally, sure. But Purito probably wasn't feeling that good. Normally he should go with Aru who attacked at 800-900 m to go. Plus he had difficulties in beating Contador in a sprint.
That points to a so-so day.

Then at least try to send team mates up the road. The trio hiding behind AC/AV was probably the worst option, when you have the numbers
