It was a clean sprint by Degenkolb. I am sure we've all seen worst. Bouhanni picked a wrong line (in a wide open road).

Degenkolb definitely left a lane for someone on his right and then closed the door in his own subtle way...

cant help thinking if Bouhanni can ride that fast one handed and complaining he should've gone around to the left and won.
At the time he complained/was blocked he couldn't go left as Hofland was in the way.

Lol, good joke.

Classic move from Bouhanni for someone who's at the limit.

If he came from the other side, it would be close.

I rather see Bouhanni win, perhaps that's the reason i think he's wasted a chance here.

Bouhanni picked the wrong side, Degenkolb picked just enough of an angle to make sure no door opened. That's what you'd expect a pro to do.

yep, add the happy clappers, and Bouhanni can be frustrated to have wasted good legs, but getting stuck in some form of traffic happens in a sprint. C'est la vie. But I nevertheless think Bouhanni was really fast, and had he chosen the good side it would really have been 50/50.

Damn, this Vuelta is loaded with top-notch riders. Who is really missing outside of Nibali, TJVG and Majka? (I am sure I am forgetting couple of names but still impressive lineup)

I was thinking much the same myself looking at the Classification. I reckon the racing will be aggressive throughout, it has all the ingredients for a Classic.

The sprint reminded me a bit of the first stage of the 2011 Giro in Parma when Ale-Jet won and Cavendish complained that Petacchi had blocked him.

The truth is Degenkolb just went straight, slightly to the right, but nor was Bouhanni alongside him, neither did he leave 0 space. Bouhanni should have picked the left side but he could also have passed on the right side. It was just a little bit tight and it seemed that Bouhanni was intimidated by the spectators with their waving instruments.
Should just have went for it - judging by the speed Bouhanni had ..there would have been less than half a wheel lenght between the two.
