Nice route, but would be better with one less MTF (thinking stage 8). Stage 5 is complete emulation of Le Tour's stage 17, interesting. Eshnar noted something similar between the Giro route mountains and those of Trentino.

Overall should be good. Stage 6 is complete win.

Too many MTFs for my liking. Quintana will go wild here. Thats if he rides this not the Tour de Suisse.

Dan Martin and J-Rod can do well here also. Froome should target this race as well, as Nibali will be targeting the Tour.

I wish more riders would do the Tour de Suisse to prove the UCI wrong: simultaneous stage races offer choices and don't deprive fans of action.

I hear that, but I think what has been making the Tour de Suisse any interesting is the fierce, close competition. Put a big gun in the mix there and it's just not the same thing. I see Quintana is scheduled to ride it, thankfully the route is not exactly pro-him or pro-climber. Not that it has been the last couple of years, but certainly the likes of him could have won with ease the most recent editions, if against a field Suisse has been getting. Still, I'd rather Quintana did the Dauphiné alongside Valverde, or Valverde doing Route du Sud again. Come June the only stage I can see him win is the one finishing in Sölden, up high on the glacier. Whereas there are a few stages other riders can gain time on him. Point is, it would not be very smart either to send Quintana to do Suisse I think, much better chances in France.

With the longer TT, more GC rider will opt for ToS instead. Too risky to be exposed right away

I thought last year the ASO were moving back towards this being an independent and interesting race in its own right rather than a Tour training session with UCI points.

I was wrong.

Descents are part of cycling, any mountainous route that does not allow the potential for them to influence the GC is a failure. The descent off of Allos has a slim chance of being significant but with all stages finishing with MTFs the route is a failure.

feels like this route was designed for the pleasure of the "crazies" who line up along the MTF. they must be buying a lot of stuff and plenty of beer. Of course ASO is always out to find a teacher's pet and it's becomming obvious that for them Quintana is god sent. Hinault has always felt a little special something for Columbian riders and he must be in heaven to see the rising star

Must be wrong. I thought this was Paris Nice thread. Is it?

*** route, more legitimate for a Paris Nice than the Dauphiné.

Looks like an underwhelming route with too many MTFs, I just hope that Quintana will ride the TdS.

I don't really understand why they made a stage which is exactly similar to one of this years tour. And I don't understand why they made a mtf on stage 5, a hill top finish on stage 6, a mtf on stage 7 and a mtf on stage 8. I think that is too much but we will see. Im really looking forward to stage 7 which could be extremely interesting
