Matthews the lucky guy YES he was already on the ropes and that even before the final :D That incredible stupid Flo guy who thougt Matthews is the same climber he used to be(and could follow Thomas, POrte and Contador in the mountains ) surely must have realised what some extra body weight do to your climbing now rofl

A shame, but the health and safety of the riders must come first.
Smart move by the Direct Energie guys to get indoors.

What a pity, but I think that to climb there is not a problem, the problem is the descent...so a kind of stage could be possible.

We really couldn't do the last 10 km of the stage orso? They already rode so much today in those shitty conditions, all for nothing.

Argh, so **** dumb

Restarting with 10 k's to go would of been a bad decision considering the riders up front had 3 minutes on the main group with the best placed rider only being 33 seconds down.

That didn't stop them for letting the cyclist ride the first 100 km of the stage.

This, you could always just ride the final 10km of the race, there wouldn't be any descennts on snowy roads.

If the roads are slippery, riders should drive with a little more caution and a little less speed. Problem solved. No need to cancel the whole thing.

I think is not that simple.

They stopped pedalling and it would take them about 30-40 minutes to resume the race. Warmming up again with only 10 km to go with this cold would probabily be very dificult.

This just sucks... Been looking forward to the stage the whole week... Now we have to wait till Saturday for some excitement. Until then, Matthews to ride around France in yellow. Urgh...

Wow. Now we have to bear Matthew riding in yellow until Saturday at least. Worst Paris-Nice ever.

What's the problem with him being in Yellow?

Oh we still have the right to dislike some riders, dont we :D ?

Seeing a guy like him leading a stage race like P-N for the whole week just sounds weird, that's all.

Races have to provide a duty of care to the riders, it's not that far fetched to think if a rider/riders crashed and the race was shown to be negligent in there duty of care that they would get sued. Not saying I agree with it but I can understand why it has been cancelled

Good decision. Riding only the last 10km would've made no sense at all.

Sucks for us but on the other hand, I would not have liked it either if some toptier riders ruined their season by riding this.

What happens in this situation to riders who abandoned? Will they just be allowed back in? Or maybe the peloton has some unspoken shaming rules that if you couldn't handle the weather and stepped off then you shouldn't be allowed back in...

Stage cancelled just as my electricity and internet break down. I love it when people show some solidarity, but they didn't have to do THAT for me

If only Ventoux was 40km closer to the finish line

Well if you want to pollute threads with your childish and immature rants go ahead - Who cares who wears the yellow jersey - Usually if you wear win two stages out of three there's a chance you will wear the yellow jersey.

I kinda understand ASO, Vuillermoz already crashed badly and had to abandon the race, so they didn't want to take any risks.
