Did Porte forget he no longer works for Sky?
It's not a surprise seeing him not fully wound up here considering he is targeting the Tour and not the Giro this year

But so is Thomas...

As a domestique for Froome so it's not a surprise to see him targeting this race

Do you realize that Richie Porte said 20 days ago that Paris-Nice is a big target for him!!!

I think people here shouldnt take everything too serious. When Flo and burning make fun of British cycling fans I'm pretty sure it is only meant as a joke. Some of the most popular posters here are Brits and I doubt that people like Flo don't know that.

Can't talk about nationalities, it's so racist although extremely accurate most of the times;

It's so easy for example to pick out the dutchies here

We all know why Contador did what he did, but we all know something else now - it didn't work. He and Majka also know this. So they had a chat about it after supper tonight and said "We gave it our best shot, there was nothing else we could have done, in a similar situation we'd do the same thing again" I really don't think so......

How is Ben Swift after Roche and Boswell in the train?

Well Roche and Boswell are both climbers so you'd expect them to be there

Yeah but Swift is doing his work after them two who are both climbers and Swift is not.

Swift climbs better than he sprints :D

Yup, I was a bit bemused by his comments about wanting to ride the Tour but if he keeps improving his climbing then he'd be a useful all round domestique for Froome in July. I've also seen a really strong Stannard in this race. I hope he's got his timing right this year for the monuments.

Swift's auditioning for the old Sky EBH mountain domestique role that's available.

I know I overrated this climb because of all the training stories of Armstrong and Sky. Whatever. Thomas got what he deserved today, he was the 2nd best on the road and got 2nd on the stage

Also, Malhao still happened

This.

Also, the constant overrated 2014 form and underrated 2015 form is wearing a little thin. 2014 AC is reaching mythical proportions....In centuries time we shall read; "And everytime the road headed skywards, he gained minutes...."

Yet for example on the first MTF in the Dauphne the best he could do was sit on Froome's wheel. That being after he'd also lost time in the prologue the day before....

Last season I seem to recall AC making a long range attack on Chris on a mountain top finish, and making it stick. Twenty or so seconds gained there in Spain. Yet people are putting 2015 and 2013 in the same sentence?

AC had one bad day in last years Giro. For the rest of it he was good, or very good.

As for this P-N, he might still make the difference on this final stage. Regardless, it will be good to see him try, to carry on the efforts from this relatively easy MTF.

It's no shame to be losing to Thomas at the moment. I think that even on more difficult GT climbs and stages, that Thomas' best level now is going to be not too far short of Froome's. He was up there with only a couple of handful of climbers on PDB; you can't do that for sixteen kms if you can't climb. If Froome was to fall off a cliff tomorrow than Thomas would even be a legitimate threat at this years Tour.

It will be interesting to see how Zakarin can go at the Giro. The guy is an obvious talent and may have a shot at the podium.

As for Porte, he was ill in Oman right? I'd say that this was a good result for him; nice to see him up there mixing it with GT and AC.

To be fair Froomes attacks would put almost every legend of cycling under immense pressure

Thomas was outclimbing 180+ people in last years TDF for a long time and smiling while doing it. That he caught Contador on that climb is not a surprise anymore.

which leads me to ask: how many "classic type riders out of that 180+people" are able to hang on to Contador and beat him on a 15.3k @ 5.7 % climb?

Thomas the tank :D for the fourth time in 7 days in the break
