Trentin will have full team support at the cobbled classics - Orica tried to get Trentin a year earlier when he was still in contract, but he preferred to honour his contract - He's every chance to win a cobbled classic in 2018 - Reckon Orica got him cheap.

Now he isn't a superdom anymore and with extra confidence from this season, he should be able to get a very good result. I think Flanders suit him a bit more than Roubaix.

Then there is Milano-Sanremo, it properly suits him even better.

In cobbles classics without heavy luck he'll be only a contender for top 10, there are riders stronger than him, if he climb like this year he should try more hilly races and they should let him go also for the green jersey at the Tour, even if he can't win mass sprints he could ride like Sagan or Matthews this year grabbing points in harder stages.

I'm curious to see if at Orica he'll continue to develop his TT skills, this year he put an impressive ride in the first stage of the Tour and did pretty well also in the longer Vuelta TT, good TT mixed with sprinting ability and enough climbing to keep on in the hills are perfect to win some short stage races.

I agree that Paris-Roubaix isn't suited to his characteristics but the hillier races with cobbles like RVV, E3 and Het Volk definitely are.

Orica was a perfect fit for Trentin if he mainly peaks in spring and fall again. Now he might be leaving Quick Step with a tear in his eyea, since he could've gotten Giro leadership there. He probably has to support Ewan there instead at Orica.

I agree that Paris-Roubaix isn't suited to his characteristics but the hillier races with cobbles like RVV, E3 and Het Volk definitely are.

In an Amstel hard ridden like this year maybe not but if we look at the Liege with more than 100 riders at the foot of Saint Nicolas and 30/50 sprinting up to Ans he could be there and he showed that he can sprint well uphill if not too hard, the one in the Vuelta was impressive with Moscon and GC guys behind him.

Anyway i didn't say that cobbles classics aren't suited to him but i think that there are riders clearly stronger than him in these races, if he want to win he need a lucky situation that enables him to anticipate the stronger riders.

Trentin was recruited because Orica is confident he can consistently make the final selection in cobbled races - Make the final selection and you have a chance to win - No doubt his ITT skills will be used individually and in team TT's - Doubt the green jersey will be up for grabs in a GC focused team, and thisis one of the reasons why Matthews left - My guess is he will ride the TDF in a free role, but at the same time Trentin being Italian may want to ride the Giro, though this is doubtful with Ewan riding the Giro - Anyway the marquee signings in trentin and Nieve should be riding the TDF.

That'll all be down to the parcours though, won't it. If there's a few puncheur stages, Trentin could be a good shot for the sprinter's jersey, whereas Ewan's only good for the dead flat bunch finish stages.

I don't know how good Trentin is on cobbles, but he must surely be an option for Flanders.

E3, Gent-Wevelgem and Omloop he has good chances in. But in Ronde and Paris-roubaix I'd say a top 10 would be a great performance for him. I'm not sure about Amstel but seeing as he managed to outclimb Colbrelli at the WCRR (who came 3rd in Amstel last year) maybe he has a chance. But it massively depends on how it is raced. A race like this year and he has no chance.

Harrd to say, Colbrelli had cramps durning the WC, but I really don't know who's actually the better climber.
