Lafay? Or do you mean someone else? What does he have to do with the Yorkshire Grand Départ when he was just a junior then?

As pointed out by someone else, mixed up with the first Tour de Yorkshire. My Miissus took a photo of him at the Piece Hall start presentation. He looked about 12 years old. He went out in the break that day. My wife sent him the photo on facebook and they became fb friends for a while.

I usually find myself agreeing with your analysis. Not here though. You're extrapolating a hell of a lot on the basis of one stage. A stage with a climb, but a tiny one. Tough, but nothing compared to what's yet to come.
Like someone already said: a great team is fine and all that, but on mountains like Puy the Dome it's gonna be mano a mano. And whatever happened today has no bearing whatsoever on what's gonna go down in the real mountains.

It's not an extrapolation based on one stage, it's a reminder of 'who' & 'what' Pogačar is based on the rider he is. For example I would not be surprised if the opposite of what many are predicting (aka Vinge dropping Pog on the big climbs) happens on the Puy de Dôme next weekend, i.e. Pog drops Vingegaard.

Those final 4km's of the climb look perfect for him. So for me the maths are simple: Jumbo cannot play two cards this year (no Rog), so they're tactically weaker. And it's not like I agree with a sort of quasi consensus that Vingegaard is the better climber, i.e. not on this TdF 2023 route anyway.

Some comments from over the Internet:

Belgian forum: Jumbo should have worked for Van Aert!
French forum: Jumbo should have worked for Pinot!
Spanish forum: Jumbo should have worked for Landa!
Canadian forum: Jumbo should have worked for Woods!
Australian forum: Jumbo should have worked for Hindley!
South African forum: Jumbo should have waited for Meintjes!
Only the first one ! I know it's ironic. But Pinot, Landa, Woods, Hindley etc. didn't even worked for themselfs. Always waiting and staying in the wheels. Even this first stage.

This weekend is/was the only chance for Vingegaard dropping Pogacar. Because Pogacar is not 100 % yet (but will be in e few days). But Vingegaard didn't even try. Bad teamtactics of Jumbo. Also not reacting on the Yates-brothers and chasing afterwards with only two Jumboriders with the handbrake on (why ?)

Maybe the Puy de Dome will come too early for Pogacar to dropp Vingegaard. But he will in the last week of the Tour. To have a chance against Poga, Jumbo has to attack massively this first week, not only with Vingegaard, but also with Kelderman (and Van Aert in support). But they won't do it. So, for Jumbo (almost) no stages and green (not supporting Van Aert), no yellow in Paris (Vingegaard waiting too long before attacking).
