I don't think there's a hard and fast rule...It helps some, and hinders others....I think that's why Batten didn't do it this year, as it affected her early season XC racing. Whereas Nino always does it....I think PFP did it last year as a training session.

Beers' chase yesterday was amazing. The most impressive thing I have ever personally witnessed on a bike was him coming by me at Truckee Gravel a few years ago, on a steep hill. I heard this whooshing noise coming from behind, so I moved far right, and he went by like he was tearing the mountain apart. It was super cool to see. Hoping he and Nortje take the overall.
