Airbag Helmet?

Engineers in Sweden created this inflatable helmet. It wraps around your neck like a thick scarf, and when you're about to get into an accident, inflates.

I can't see anyone using it for serious riding, or racing, but it's interesting.

Most of us know someone who has lost their life in an accident with a car. It happens too frequently.

True, the device in the video looks to be a little too bulky and probably too heavy to be considered for use by anyone other than the wary commuter.

Hopefully, with time, the research and development of the device will yield a lighter, less cumbersome version. It would be pretty cool if there were a version small enough to be attached to the base of a traditional helmet to provide extra protection in the event of a serious accident.
