All Hail Gustav Larsson !!

There is no doubt in Gustav Larsson's mind. “It is quite obvious that Armstrong has doped,” he told a Swedish newspaper....“I do not think there is anyone in the cycling world to believe that he has been clean throughout their careers,” Larsson, who rides for Vacansoleil-DCM, told aftonbladet.se.
“The mid-90's were a dark period in the sport ofcycling. But it is good that it is taken care of and that things are punished in the end. The message must go out and we have to work for a clean future,” he said.

I think Larsson is the only PRO-CYCLIST who has said what all cycling fans want to hear. That no matter how much time goes by, if you doped you will be caught.

So I thought it would be good for CN forum users to show their appreciation of this...you could follow him on twitter - followers equals revenue for him.

Any other ideas ?? it,d be nice to show the Peloton that his statement and opinion is what the fans want to hear from THEM.

What's funny is that we're fed that "new generation that has grown up in a clean environment" BS all the time, and yet compare 32-year-old Larsson, who turned pro in 2001, to 26-year-old Thomas.

I just saw this and it's very welcome, if he is at the Tour of Britain I'll try and show my appreciation.

very nice response, thanks for singling it out.

(on a critical note: the mid-nineties? whatever happened to the late nineties and 2000s?)

Well done that man. The only disturbing thing is he is the only one. I mean a lot of guys have dodged this in the past by saying well lets wait to see what happens with the investigations etc. Well its done, he's been banned and we get nothing... the omerta is still strong for sure. Bitterly disappointing. :(

Courageous rider!
Peloton needs more like Gustav Larsson and should follow his example, because the public needs to hear this kind of public denouncement to counteract all the Armstrong disinformation and spin.

Guys like Chris Horner - who I USED to respect - just should say nothing at all, because he's hurting himself and the sport. Maybe that's why most of the peloton has no comment, because they signed away their conscience with omerta.

I think it is more likely that older riders would speak out against Lance. It is the older riders that could plausibly claim to have entered the sport without knowing the extent to which doping was a problem. Some of them are likely bitter at having learned too late that achievement of their athletic dreams depended on their willingness to stick syringes in their bodies. All of the younger riders have known from an early age that cycling had a massive doping problem that very well could ensnare them should they continue to pursue the sport. That they did so anyway strongly suggests that, whatever they would prefer cycling to be about, they are not completely turned off by the important role doping plays in cycling.

You "think" Larrson is the only pro who is saying what the public wants to hear?

You don't read much do you? There are plenty of people saying what he is saying, have you been in a coma for a few years?

That's great news. You should add all the recent ones commenting on the USADA case to this thread.

By the way, I think Engoulvent's reaction is being unfairly ignored because it can only be found in French as far as I know.

hrotha - is it posted elsewhere in these forums? Can you translate for us? Link, please? Or better yet, put a link in the "reactions" thread. Or maybe not, that thread has gotten gummed up by ppl posting thoughts, and not links.
