For next year, my team has decided to go to 2 stage races next year. We're a junior team from the South. Any suggestions?

If you're a junior team why not think about going up to Abitibi in Quebec Canada. It may be closer than Bisbee, Arizona :) And you will get to race with an international peloton.

Yeah but we don't have a strong enough team for that. Two of us are planning to go up there with the regional team.

Bisbee and Gila are both great races. Both require that you go to San Diego, Phx or Tucson or I guess maybe Texas in order to get a decent flight price. LA is about 100 miles from San Diego and depending on the transportation you get you can always find races in S.Cal. Redlands is the premier race in that area. The best race in the US is Super Week which is really 2 weeks of racing. The pts are based on 2 weeks but there are daily prizes. If you have good form you will get some cash during your travels. Also they do a host family set up where area families take in as many riders as they can to save money. The race has stages primarily in IL and WI. The races are between cities so yo get to see some decent stuff. You will go away from it with a few things for sure.Better form, understanding that the Midwest US has some very beautiful places and people and that the the US is the same size as Australia only with a little bit of stuff in the middle. Cantwell from Flying V has killed it for 2 years. They had 17 days of racing last year

I'm sorry to say that two excellent races are no longer stage races....Fitchburg and Altoona. US cycling is not as healthy as the number of pros would see to suggest.

Yeah, we were going to do Fitchburg next year, but there is no reason to travel all the way up there to race only one day:(

Fitchburg too? Seriously? Wow, that's sad. I hadn't heard that yet.

There used to be a lot of great stage races in the mid-west to east:

Wendy's
Altoona
Fitchburg
Tour of Virginia
Tour of South east Ohio
etc.

What's happened?
