It is not a good position, but he lost little time, more considering he was always with an eye in Kloden in the front of the peleton, and he wasnt in the final cut, Monfort was, and at the end Andy didnt lost much time with Monfort, so it is ok...

Schleck: ‘I cannot dream of winning the Tour this year’
http://velonews.competitor.com/2013...ot-dream-of-winning-the-tour-this-year_280623

The man is focused on a step by step comeback....good approach. He doesn't need the pressure of team lead at le Tour.

“I haven’t experienced this before in my career. It’s something new. It’s the life of a cyclist. You have ups and downs in life. When you’re down, it takes a long time to come back up again. I still love riding my bike. I really enjoy racing.”

Things always came to easy for him; now he is fighting for it. That will only make him stronger. He loves to ride his bike and that will keep him going :)

Agree with serfla, Andy is just being realistic and quite level-headed in that article. Looks like he may be maturing as a result of his trials and tribulations over the last year--which will make him an even more formidable contender when he gets his form back.

Wonder if he will aim for the Vuelta when frank is back.
I don't think so.
After the Tour (and suspension), they'll probably go to the States and do Pro Cycling Challenge. The Worlds and Il Lombardia should be their autumn targets.
Not saying they're the favorites, though.

Ya, kindof sortof.

He needs to focus on short term goals. The obvious is making it through this week, then stick to the schedule. I still think the Tour is doable as a general contender, although there are more other contenders now.

Not sure if he will come back "more formidable" but I think he will be less complacent in the future.

Apparently Kloden punctured a little before the 2nd to last climb and Andy helped him chase back to the bunch right before the climb started. Id imagine after the little breakaway he was in and then adding that effort he was pretty tired before that climb so not surprising where he finished.

Andy being in the break today was a very good sign IMO. Based on how he's been riding this week, he seems to gave gotten some motivation back. I hope he continues this.

Ha, baby steps is fine.

But, I dont look at completing Pais Vasco as a baby step. All these races are in themselves quite difficult, so its a solid foundation for the future.

Hmm. I'm thinking the good doctor is a silent member of the Andy club:cool:

Thanks for that.;)

It is a pity to read that from him, becouse I was still optimistic, but he is realistic, and that is not bad...
