One thing I just thought about is the possible change in attitude that Cavendish might have if the Tour organizers brought back bonus seconds for the stage win and the intermediate sprints, especially with the prologue being replaced with a 180K sprinter's stage next year. Would he be able to resist an opportunity to grab the yellow jersey, and if he got it, would he try and hold onto it until the race reached the mountains?

not gonna happen. they like the no bonus seconds rule they've been using

True, the sponsor loves massive #s of stage wins, but they also like having their jersey up on the podium each and every day even when their man doesn't win the stage.

Personally, I thought that Cav would have been a bit annoyed last year at winning an absurd six stages (don't you have to go back to Maartens in 1976 for more than six?...and he won the green jersey, BTW) and not winning the Green.

Like some have posted above, it seems as though Cav wants to win the Green without ever sprinting for an intermediate sprint or anything other than a stage win. It is just surprising to me that he would act this way in a team that has a very modern, professional approach combined with having Zabel as an advisor.

....and I'm also surprised that typing a four letter word for your fanny that starts with "b" and ends with "tt" gets "****ed" out on this forum. A bit of PC overkill, don't y'all think?

Actually, Cav has 15 in 4 tours

2007 he went in to the Tour as a newbie planning only 10 stages, probably hoping for a win in UK
2008 quit early for the sake of Olympics

So that's two half tours! You could say he's only done 3:D;)
