I'm pretty sure I've fully earned the right to complain about Evenepoels solos being uncontested just by the sheer amount of bitching I did when Pogacar solod 50km to the win in Strade Bianche.

Anyway, it is basically like any why does x group of riders not stop trying to do y failing strategy argument on the forum. It should be fairly understandable that it's annoying for some viewers cause it takes all the suspense out of races when it can be quite preventable in most hilly classics. At the same time without radios the Worlds and the worlds being a super chaotic race it's just a prime time race where that *** just happens.

But for rEmCo the basic formula is "Why is he the only rider who gets criticized for x reason" when in reality you find similar arguments everywhere if you pay a bit of attention.

If WvA wouldn't have had Covid-19 and subsequently had won either Flanders or Paris-Roubaix it actually would've been him crystal clear.

Yes, Remco's had the best season, but I still think Pogacar is the more talented rider based upon what I have seen so far but this could change. There will be much anticipation when Pog and Remco go head-to-head in a Grand Tour for the first time. Notice few (zero votes) are mentioning Vingegaard here.

Pogacar has a great sprint, which will always make it easier for him to win than Remco. I dno why people keep downplaying his wins. If it's so easy why didnt we ever see the way he does it in the last twenty years? Surely not all races were always massively stacked everytime? People are just looking for an explanation while not wanting to accept the most simple one : he was just the strongest by far on those days.

Boonen's world title doesn't count because Freire was out with an injury.

Maybe, but you can only beat the riders who actually line up at the race, and race the course you are given. He did it 3 times in huge events in a single year. That goes beyond "the stars aligned" in my book.
Same, the stars can align once but repeatedly goes to more.

Yup, if WvA who didn't win a major race all season actually won 3 or 4 monuments and the Worlds, then without a doubt he would have been in contention.

Not much to argue about again this year. If someone wins three of the biggest nine races, they pretty much automatically had the best season. Pogacar’s 2021 was arguably the best season by anyone since 1987. Evenepoel’s 2022 isn’t of that calibre but it is still far better than anyone else’s.

If WVA won 3 or 4 monuments and Worlds it would have been one of the best seasons in a long time.

I voted for Remco as having best season.

Best current rider may still be Pogacar, if my suspect maths is right he also tops most wins this year.

The rider with the best season is Primoz Roglic.

He crashed but didn't had any permanent injures. Change my mind.
