I am sponsored by PowerBar & have been using the PowerBar High Intensity Sustained Release Beta Alanine supplement. http://www.powerbar.com/products/40...-release-beta-alanine-dietary-supplement.aspx

I have been taking it for 4 weeks and am tapering to 1,600 mg. I can already see the results in my training. I can sustain my top end longer in my intervals and have stronger & more attacks in my legs at races. I strongly recommend trying Beta Alanine! I am not sure exactly how to cycle it. I want to stay on relative form through CX season. Any advice from coaches out there?

Thanks!

The only advice coaches will give you is same as WADA dont take suppliments they wont listen to your excuse if they find something caused by a suppliment
Having said that it is an amenio acid so you may cause a in balance of other amenio acids . only take these for a short time them rest them and start again
but that is a big dose for your gut to take in. Like waight loss suppliments the only waight you loose is from your wallet.
Why dont you try whey protine it has it all in it be sure it is 100% pure no flavors or addatives
it will be better than single amino acids and sure to get a balance

advice above is false it will cause no amino imbalance or ill effects its simply an amino acid and yea its helpful even more so when combined with creatine and some other supps. to get the proper dosage you need to take it by itself not with a complete protein preferably and with carbs/sugar for greater insulin response and effect. whey and other complete proteins are great for recovery and contain small amounts of all aminos to various degrees. your body does not pick and choose though so when taking single aminos by them selves there effects are maximized. when you take an amino at the same time as a complete protein you waste your money as minimal amounts will be absorbed allow 20 minutes between amino use and complete proteins use carbs/sugars are fine though. good stuff not snake oil.

I am also a Team Elite member and Powerbar rider/supporter. I wanted to clear the water a little on the safety of beta alanine. High Intensity by Powerbar (beta alanine), is NSF certified. NSF is the highest certificiations possible for supplements and testing for banned substances. It's a very safe and effective supplement that I use and many of my athletes do as well. I had a pr in a half marathon recently that I contribute partially to this product.

Personally the more interesting thing is that you are taking a product given to you by your sponsor and you aren't going to your sponsor for the answers on this topic...

So in other words you never get tested...
