U.S. Moving Forward on Bicycle Interstate Highway System
A plan that originated in the 1980s to build a system of interstate bike paths has come back to life after lying dormant for 30 years. Only two stretches of bike interstate were established back then: U.S. Bicycle Route 1 from Virginia to North Carolina (initially planned to run from Florida to Maine) and U.S. Bicycle Route 76 from Virginia to Illinois (initially planned to run from Virginia to Oregon), but new routes may soon cover the whole country.

This is a great idea but it will never happen. The neocons and the teabaggers would rather spend our money on stupid wars instead of building the country's infrastructure.

Yowza! The stretch from Salt Lake City to Reno would be quite the route in summer. Two 750 ml bottles would not cut it.

I'm ok with this as long as the bipartisan deficits are erased and the states agree on the need of this project.

At the risk of turning this post into politics, do you think Obama is not a militaristic authoritarian like the neo-cons? Both parties hate war when the other guy is doing it. Republicans are voting to defund operations in Libya while there are still 50,000 "non" combative troops in Iraq and we keep expanding operations in Yemen. Neocons? Absolutely yes! Tea"baggers"? mostly yes. But what happen to all those Iraq anti-war protesters. They must of been asleep at the wheel when we invaded Libya. The new boss is a lot like the old one.

The US invaded Lybia and nobody told me?

Thanks for keeping us informed. Where can I find a map of the advance of US troops in the country?

I remember my father telling me that just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD do it. The example was growing strawberries at the North Pole.

I think an interstate bike path would be a colassal waste of money in a country (USA) where many people live below the poverty level, many don't have health care, etc etc etc. lets prioritize.
