Is there a magazine that doesn't totally suck out there?

Road Bike Action: My high school yearbook was edited better the RBA. The whole thing is a rag. I can't believe companies actually bother to buy ad space in that thing. Also if Ratko Mladic won seven tours then they would talk about the tour wins and gloss over the war crimes if they could.

VeloSnooze: Boring, Too much Neal Rogers and John Wilcockson and a monthly article about Taylor Phinney. Also..... GARMINGARMINGARMINHTCGARMINGARMINRADIOSHACKGARMIN

Cyclesport or any other British Cycling Rag: Great Photos, some humor but otherwise TEAMSKYTEAMSKYTEAMSKYTEAMSKYWIGGINSCAVENDISHTEAMSKYTEAMSKYTEAMSKYTEAMSKYBRAILSFORD

Even Cyclesport "America" reads like a Team Sky Press Release these days.

Really wish there was a magazing out there that practiced more "journalism".

procycling is ok compared to Velonews and cyclosports.

tuttobici is a good Italian cycling magazine if you are interested in Italian cycling.

i think beligium has many good cycling magazines.

Which is so sad. Ten years ago or so CS was by far the best cycling mag out there. I remember fantastic articles on Subida a Urkiola (!), Roberto Laiseka and other unusual stuff. Fantastic.

It stood out because it was really international. Nowadays it's just another focused-on-one-nation mag.

I have found ProCycling to be almost indistinguishable to Cyclesport. Although it's bigger in size and has good pictures.

indistinguishable for reading? i have no problem with them except they are too Anglosaxon, and sometimes their reports are too arbitrary. cyclosport...full of Sky and Brits.

This I guess is part of my overall point. American cycling rags are overly and annoyingly focused on American riders and other English speaking riders as a secondary. Same goes with the British Cycling pubs. Their idea of mixing it up is producing an article about a non-english speaking rider for an English speaking team.

Honestly I am a fan of American riders. But I don't need to be inundated with an update on Taylor Phinney's pubes every month.

I like Peloton, which is a new magazine. Also, Rouleur when I can get it. (One of these days I'll get around to getting a subscription.)

For the racing scene I prefer ProCycling. It really is heads above the rest.

My favorite cycling mag, though, and the one I learn the most about bikes from, is also the one fewest people know about. Bicycle Quarterly is full of info you can't find anywhere else. I bought all the back issues and a two year subscription. It's like getting a Master's degree in Bikeology.

Peloton magazine is a good one as is Roleur (mentioned earlier). I really love Australia's Ride magazine although of course there is the emphasis on the Aussie riders with Cadel being a deity of sorts.;) Regardless it is coffee table quality in its presentation, photography, layout, and quite wide ranging in that it has some of the best bike reviews that I've seen plus a regular section where they interview local cyclists about their regular groups that they ride with, the rides that they do and, one of my fav's, interview them about their bikes. It's only quarterly though.

Peloton Magazine is a wonderful mag, as well as Rouleur, which is pricey but totally worth it.

This. Also recently picked up paved which shows some promise and is edited by joe parkin whose writing I enjoy. It has quite a good range of topics from Euro 6 Day racing to the Igorre round of the cross WC series last year.

I have yet to find a mag whose product reviews do not suck to high heaven though.

Not one of you panned Bicycling. If there ever was a mag that printed the exact same content every month, this is it. Besides, if you visit their website, all the content is there too.

Peloton is pretty good. First copy I saw had a story about frites so I had to give it a read. Road Bike Action has changed a bit over the last year. It seems to be focusing quite a bit lately on doing a write up on every storied Italian company in 200 words or less. Just enough detail to make you aware that there is far more to know that they refuse to tell you. Of course, Bob Roll is their patron saint.

Every once in a while I pick up ProCycling but for some reason, it feels like the only thing interesting about that mag is the pictures.

Peloton is great. Probably the best. New magazine and I hope they will stay around. I subscribed for two years.

ProCycling is the best for Professional cycling , yet the US edition is always delayed and the magazine is expensive.

Road Bike Action is mediocre but cheap if you subscribe.

Bicycling caters to Freds and recreational riders, but for a $5/year I cant say no.

VeloNews .... Hit or Miss. I do not subscribe

From time to time I do buy other UK magazines when available here in States.

I like Paved and the impression I got from Joe was that it was going to be an occasional thing.

I do have a copy of Peloton, which I surprised to see and buy the other day. Not bad but too soon to tell.

I didn't mention Bicycling because I was trying to stay within the realm of publications that A: hadn't sold their soul B: attempted to be a serious bicycling publication.

I also would like to punch Bicycling's editor in throat for some reason. I have no idea why.

Haha. Good joke. Developed over the years from bad to worse.

Edit: Talking just about the racing coverage. Tech stuff etc. is boring anyway.

I like their tech section, tests/product reviews and the 1p brief on tours and routes.

I was subscribin to procycling, but stopped it after a year. The reason was that they send it to me in Denmark 14 days after it had been released in the UK and 10 days after I could buy it in my local kiosk. Not really satisfied with that.
