Hi

I will be visiting the Phils in April 2011 and would like to take my bike with me.

Does anyone have any info on good areas to ride. I like to race and prefer hilly and mountainous areas.

I would appreciate any advice/info/reccomendations of routes, clubs, good bike shops etc

thanks Dave

This probably won't be much help but...I lived there when I was a kid. I would go to Bagiou City. I remember it being cool (for the PI) and mountainous. At some elevation and hilly. There was a nice lake and pine trees. That was 25 years ago that I lived there though so things may have changed a lot. Good luck, and it is a beautiful country.

I regulary scuba dive in PI, would think cycling would be dangerous with the traffic and roads in isolated areas arnt that great either.

April is getting into hot period also. Make sure you have good travel accident insurance.

Sorry this is not much help.

Regards

Hugh

I was just there recently in 'dangerous' Mindanao. No problem and its one of the most friendly places you will EVER cycle. If you get hit, it wont be from some ****er giving you road rage but rather just some freak accident.

Speeds are VERY slow there.

Take your bike with you and join the most friendly bunches you will EVER meet!

Here is a vid I did cycling in Davao city, Philippines.

Hi Dave

I'm Filipino. There are a lot of excellent routes in the Philippines. In Luzon alone, in the EAST SIDE, there's the Antipolo-Bugarin-Mabitac-Sierra Madre Mountains-Sampaloc-JalaJala-Lumban in Laguna.

In The South, there's the usual Tagaytay route which is accessible via Amadeo-Indang-Aguinaldo Highway. There's also Puerto Azul-Caylabne in Cavite and also routes in Batangas.

April is a nice month, although be prepared for a very hot climate.

I suggest you browse the following forums:

See you on the road.
