Weeell, it's the TDF so of course it's time to talk cycling..! ; )

Seems to me we had a very nice rest day prior to the TT & some amazing performances after it, notably from..Alberto Contador, Roman Kreuziger, Andy Schleck, Joaquim Rodrigues...

good idea for a thread

Purito was very obvious in the ITT

Another one in recent memory that comes to mind is Voecklers heroics in last years tour

Anyone have any other good examples of what a good refill can do?

Imo, best reason to be suspicious of performance is lack of drop or even jump in performance after second rest day.

What Rod and Quintana suddenly were capable of is amazing. Such a climb by the best rider in week 1 is suspicious. These are two that obviously performed much less at their best, then suddenly do amazing performances after rest day.

Don't forget Rogers.

Also, how was Contador that bad so far in the mountains? Yes, slower compared to when he was in his prime and doped up very well. But why is this not a normal performance given his talent?

Because he was riding above his talent all this time because he was doped? I mean, he did test positive for both clen and blood transfusion on rest day, didn't he?

Good non-detectable doping regimes don't come falling off trees, you know.

How do you know he had a bad day?

I thought Contador's performance in the TT was a bit better that where it should relate to his prior level same with his Saxo buddies, perhaps masked today by Riis's gung-ho tactics & also Fuglsang who again was +. I can't help but think that Astana are too big an outfit with too much money to not have a Top 10 GC'er.

Where's Fuglsang on GC now?

Yes but Schleck, Kreuziger and Contador were **** again today. BB's effect last longer me thinks.

Of course they do.

Contador and Kreuziger were okay today.

Worse than Ventoux according to pVAM.

Quintana and J-Rod the only ones breaking the Ventoux-Alpe decline trend.

Like I said Contador and Kreuziger were above previous levels.. It's not like they've set the Tour alight so far eh?

Again, like I said above before blood bag day, masked by Riis's command to attack on the descent & in the valley..

And to reiterate, Purito, Fuglsang too..
