Brutal Danish muur in Tour of Denmark (video)

The climb at Kiddesvej is part of the famous circuit in Vejle, but Kiddesvej is by no means the toughest in the city, dispite its 19 percent.

On stage 3 in the Tour of Denmark this week, the riders were met by Gammel Kongevej ("Old King's Road"). It's slightly steeper than Kiddesvej (19,5 percent), but the big difference is that it's longer.

Gammel Kongevej appeared in the Tour of Denmark for the first time this year. Hopefully, the organizers will think of it next year too.

Why not just race all the Tour of Denmark stages in Vejle? It's the only place in Denmark with climbs.

Technically Bornholm is danish. But getting there in PDR is impossible.

One thing which came to my mind that Denmark should apply for World Champs in Vejle, whenever they try to get them next time (I know it was just few years ago when Copenhagen was a host)

Out of numerous Strava posts from the riders of Tour of Denmark, Troels Vinther is on top at the moment, having invested a massive 620 watts to achieve the record speed of mediocre 18.7 kph on the climb.

In fact, that's a pretty precise description of the climb. The Gammel Kongevej merges into Christian Winthersvej, making the percentage decrease to about 6 percent, and then it goes up to 16 again. See attached file.

Btw, the parallel Christian Winthersvej is much steeper, with a maximum gradient of 25.5.

It's difficult - but not impossible.
It would have to be the first or the last stage on Bornholm, anything else would mean too long transfers. But I don't see why a route starting on Bornholm and finishing in Aarhus shouldn't be possible:
Stage 1: Bornholm; early finish, ferry crossing in the evening to Ystad, transfer to Copenhagen area
Stage 2: Copenhagen area - Slagelse/Odsherred/Odense
Stage 3a: Nyborg - Svendborg
Stage 3b: Middelfart ITT
Stage 4: Vejle
Stage 5: Horsens - Aarhus

Since the organizers of the Tour of Denmark have been to Bornholm at least twice to discuss the possibilities, there is not much doubt that the race will go to Bornholm one of the coming years. One of the local race organizers on Bornholm says it could well be already in 2017.
