The UCI Pro Men's field is stacked. Really interested to see how Beers and Swenson do. I will never forget the sound of Beers going by me at Truckee Gravel 2 or 3 years ago. He was standing up on the climb, and making a lot of wind noise on a calm day. I heard whooshes and then this really tall guy go by me at an absurd MPH for a steep climb.

Swenson really bad, where I expected him to be able to add real power to the team. I think Beers would be vying for the lead, if it were an individual race. Swenson just can't keep his wheel.

Swenson hasn't done enough acclimatisation - and is suffering for it. Schurter, Colombo et al have been there for weeks/ months....(Nino actually has a place there for the winter).
Sayig that, I wonder if stage racing simply doesn't suit him - and he can't recover enough over the week. He wouldn't be the first.

He came good on the last stage so I would say that stage racing wasn't the problem.

You named one of the potential issues, plus I heard that he didn't have the winter that he had planned, and that he was having intestinal issues all week (I don't have any confirmation of any of that though).

Nino finally found a partner who could handle him; and the only issue was the missed feed/ dropped gels on Saturday......
Now, let's see how it affects his season.....will he be 'wrecked' or will it be good for his World Cup racing?
