Cardboard bicycle helmet is safer than the styrofoam helmet you have now.
Student designer Anirudha Surabhi has invented a bike helmet, called Kranium, that protects your head with cardboard

very cool. Unfortunatley the bike industry will find such a helmet hard to digest, given that they can't realistically charge you $250 for a cardboard helmet...They might manage to add some crabon to it, so as to inflate prices...

Not for heavy sweaters or people who ride in the rain.

It is biodegradable, though. Could go over big with the hipsters.

hipsters are so mainstream, ugh, always doing the same bs

Well if you currently use a helmet made of get this Styrofoam I don't see it too much of a stretch that you'll wear one made of cardboard. I doubt any production helmet will actually use the generic cardboard, they'll cover/protect the material to keep your sweat from degrading it.

Can't wait to buy the first one once they get it tested and fine tuned. You'll all be wearing them shortly after.

The comments section and ensuing argument over whether it's corrugated or cardboard are awesome/hilarious :D

It's carboard...not it's not...yes it is...

Corrugated is *not* cardboard. There is no cardboard in this entire helmet - yet you use the word cardboard in the title and 3 times in the article. This helmet used corrugated.

It reminds me of some of the discussions we see in here sometimes
