Cartridge Bearings

I'm looking to change the cartridge bearings in my Planet X lightweight rear hub having established the type / spec. Now I'm not looking to fit ceramic or spend a fortune but do wish to fit good quality and durable rubber sealed units. I'm assuming that there are varying qualities available so could do with a few pointers towards manufacturers / distributors available in UK

Cheers

You may have trouble getting bearings from bike shops the best is to remove the bearings and take them to a bearing specialist who will measure them and provide you with new ones or order them for you .
Make sure if you need locktite to replace them you can get that from bearing shop also they will give you the correct locktite. dont put too much on and dont get it on the bearings

They should have a number on them, match that. Failing that, measure the ID, OD and width and then with a being chart, match that. Get high quality European or US made bearings. Install with a press, oil the bearing seat. Also pry the seals off with a sharp blade, grease in there, replace the seal.

Don't waste your money on ceramic, hype+.

I've got the specs from Planet X so am happy I can get the correct size etc. I wouldn't know a high quality bearing from a bargain-bucket variant so could do with a little advice on what's what. A recommend for a specific manufacturer / supplier would be sufficient

Great - Thanks for your time.:)

I've had good experience with Enduro bearings (ABEC 5 steel bearings, not used ceramic) in a BB, has lasted numerous wet winters and still going unlike stock rubbish in Raceface and Truvativ.

They do wheel bearings in kits as well as individual bearings.

UK distributors are on their website.
