Cauberg Cross - Valkenburg (Saturday: Feb. 19th)

Echoes said:
Hello,

Valkenburg hosts what seems to be a brand new cross round the most famous climb of the Netherlands.

It's streamed on the net (3pm CET, this Saturday): http://www.bvls.eu/

Nys, Albert, Wellens, Aernouts, Walsleben and Mourey will be there among others. ;)

So I take it Pauwels and Styby will be in Eekloo.

Route: http://www.caubergcyclocross.com/cauberg.php

I'll miss it this weekend unfortunately, but what a fantastic venue that must be at Valkenburg. I really like the town there, it has a nice buzz when the weather is good. And obviously because of the Amstel Gold, it's a bit of a cycling mecca too! :)

1 Bart Wellens
2 Philipp Walsleben + 32"
3 Niels Albert +57"
4 Bart Aernouts
5 Sven Nys
6 Gerben De Knegt
7 Martin Zlamalik
8 Christian Heule
9 Rob Peeters + 3'

Wellens was leader from the very first turn of the first lap to finish.

Great route, many technical parts and a huge hillock to climb on foot. Great! In the end poor Albert climbed it walking, completely exhausted. According to Groenendaal, the course could have been made harder. Van der Poel was very kind. I hope it can become a classic.

Eeklo:

1 Klaas Vantornout (again !!)
2 Zdenek Stybar
3 Dieter Vanthourenhout
4 Mariusz Gil :)
5 Kenneth van Compernolle
...
8 Kevin Pauwels
