Cauberg Cyclocross - Saturday Feb. 18th 2012

Nys won. He didn't have to fight for GvA, like last year, so this time he could give it all.

Every year, after the Worlds, everybody seems to think it's over.:(

They prefer boring road races ...

Yaa, Sven. The best crosser ever. Except maybe Zweifel who I had the pleasure (?) of racing against in a couple of masters worlds MTB races in the early '80's.

Yup, I've read an interview with Albert Zweifel in La Liberté, a couple of years ago and learned he raced mtb by the end of his career.

But it wasn't yet recognized by the UCI, was it?

Zweifel was the running master. Some sort of an Erwin Vervecken, avant-la-lettre. I haven't seen him racing but it should've been fun.

Liboton hated him though.

The Belgians always refer to De Vlaeminck E., Liboton and Nys as the three greats. We seem to ignore Zweifel.

Well he was at the first unified MTB worlds in Durango in 1980. I think he finished 2nd, however to paraphrase somebodys sig line I didn't see what happened as I was a little further back.:D

Apparently Hugh Januss is tempbanned.

I got the info that the first MTB Worlds in Durango happened in 1990.

But I don't see Zweifel in the top6:

1) Ned Overend
2) Thomas Frischknecht
3) Tim Gould
4) Paul Thomasberg
5) Max Jones
6) John Tomac

I'm convinced he raced it. Does anyone know which place he finished it?
