That's not Mario Monti but Romano Prodi.;)
But Mario Monti said to press that he likes cycling and he still remember the first race he saw when his dad brought him to see the Worlds in 1951.

Oh, sorry about that!

Read an interview a couple of years ago with Fabrizio Ravanelli where he was talking about riding 10,000km a year and riding gran fondos. He said he was riding one once and another rider shouted at him, "Hey Ravanelli, was football not hard enough for you?" :D

Charlie Pickering

Host of a reasonably high-rating national news/panel/comedy TV show on one of the networks here in Oz, and as "celebrity ambassador" for a Gran Fondo got around at pretty good pace.

I'm not too surprised he can ride. I'd expect him to be the type to do it on a fixie while wearing high end Rapha gear though.

James May, from Top Gear.

james may is awesome but i don't really see where he comes from with the grumpy cyclists.

in my hometown every1 is very cheerful, i certainly greet every single person i see on the road. ofc i avoid the areas with people and cars so i end up only seeing people every few k, mostly old people.

By my own experiences the "grumpy cyclists" thing is very changeble depending on the area; even here in Italy you might be in an area where everybody will send greetings to you, while in another one they will all be either too concentrated to send a greets or simply feeling too superior.

MotoGP rider Ben Spies is a very good cyclist as I understand it. Even started his own cycle team, elbowz racing. Jenson Button is into triathlon, so owns a flash bike. (Not really a proper cyclist #the rules ;)
