What's the deal with these champion's bands on cyclo-cross jerseys?
There seems to be no logic behind who uses them when.
Sometimes it's a former champion (Nys) wearing them in-race:
He's also wearing them on the podium:
Here you can see Štybar wearing his normal World champion's jersey on the podium.
But in another race, he had a jersey similar to Nys':
By the way, I really like how they transformed the red stripes from the regular Quick Step jersey into the rainbow stripes...
And another reigning champion (Albert) also wears a similar jersey on a podium:
Unlike Nys, he's the current champion, so he could wear the normal Belgian champion's jersey (which he does in-race). Why does he (and Štybar too, on some occasions) change to a jersey more in line with the regular team jersey?
Is it to get bigger sponsor exposure?
