Don't know much about this race, but it seems to end in a sprint much of the time. If Bos won it then you would have to fancy Kittel this time, if not Bos again. If it's more broken up, Rojas and Ventoso are there, also Koldo Fernandez, Simone Ponzi, and other climbing-finishing guys like Lightart and Gavazzi. The field is less than stunning, although it's a .HC race.

Thanks. I couldn't even get CQ to load there, to give me more of a clue. Kittel it is, then.

Break of the day is Christophe Le Mevel (Garmin), Yannick Talabardon (Saur), Kristof van de Walle (Lotto) and José Vicente Toribio (Andalucía). Kenny de Ketele (Topsport Vlaanderen) has bridged across to them and they have 3'22" on the péloton.

Good, Matthews wins again. Decent competition with Bozic I guess.
The group was thinned out to 50 men on the climbs. Presumably by Astana and Rabobank who had a lot of climbers in this race as well.

Good for Bozic and Matthews ofcourse. Because Kittel was here and probably dropped because of this

Ventoso looking for a slow start of the season? He was so strong last year.

Movistar did a lot of work for Paco and Rojas in the early parts of last season because they were pretty leaderless and looking for some wins and placements to build confidence and get them some good WT points. This year, Valverde's back, and it's quite clearly his team again, so at more races the worker ants are climbing helpers like Javier Moreno rather than power engines.

Dekker survived the selection as well and tried to put Kreder in position. Wonder what Dekker can do at strade bianchi.

Too bad he's not in the selection for Paris Nice or the Tirreno.. wonder where he will ride then to get ready for the classics. Just Catalunya, Vasco?

He tweets that he'll ride Paris-Nice.

Yeah I just saw that. That means no Strade Bianchi because it's impossible to combine.

Paris Nice should be an interesting test with the TT there

Being in the same situation last year, Ryder Hesjedal said 'no way i'm gonna miss the white roads' and had done both (Strade Bianche and Paris-Nice)
